I prefer the Winter Olympics over the summer ones.

Love the winter sports.

It's been diluted since they switched over to everyother year. But I'll probably watch the downhill.

But you realize it's still Winter Sports every 4 years and Summer Sports every 4 years.

I'll tune in right after I get done watching the 2005 Connecticut / Sacramento WNBA Finals on ESPN Classic. (OK, I'm frightened I was able to name the two teams.)

I'm sorry but between all the promos I've seen on NBC and the local affiliate as well as all the constant product and service cross-marketing because of the 2 year cycle, I'm just bored with "The Games".

If I do watch any, luge and bobsled will be it. Darn, I'm traveling during Day 1. :D

I just hope they schedule programming in small blocks so I can schedule TiVo to Record the events I am interested in and delete segments as I watch them

In the past it has just shown up as 6 hour blocks of Olympics which is a PITA to TiVo.

I'll be watching the snowboarding.

Me too. Although I'm really interested in the Alpine events, rather than halfpipe. Its really fun when you know the folks personally and get to watch them on TV. I rode and surfed with Tyler Jewell for 8 days last August. He's a long shot, but you never know!

Go fast Tyler:

And here's a pic from Chile last summer.

Another cool pic of Tyler in Chile:

I loved how she first tried claiming it wasn't a showboating move, saying that she was trying to make sure she was stable in the jump. Yeah, right.

I think that she gets the gold for Olympic failure. Bode Miller gets the silver. And Johnny Weird gets the bronze.

Far more interesting these Olympics have been the other boarders (obviously I'm rooting for the Americans). Ted Ligety's slalom run was awesome.

And while ice dancing is boring, that Tanith Belbin (Canadian naturalized as a U.S. citizen) is quite interesting.

I agree and agree with the gist of the column, but this part "It joined an elusive list of some of the big blunders in sports history." doesn't really sit well with me. I just don't imagine a lot of people remembering it for a long time like the other examples.

i watched some women's hockey nd skeleton ...gotta love the olympics

Hey, check out Google's doodle for the day - I guess curling has been one of the top web search items this week - too cool!

Good news for the US men's team, too bad for the womens. I've been beaten in many a game by Courtney George's brother...

Also check out the Olympic Curling Site

Yeah.
Dr. Ken
I might watch if they'd leave out the figure skating - way to boring for me. Besides I think that the judges are prejudice against the Americans. True or not, that is what I believe.
ghost
I don't mind the figure skating, it doesn't have the beauty or excitement of curling, but it is pleasant to watch. I don't think there's a US bias, but I was surprised that the Bulgarian pair scored lower than the Ukranians - their performance seemed much more alive and athletic, they were a pleasure to watch.

Oh yea, and it was fun to watch the Italian woman stare daggers into her partner, talk about being in the doghouse...
ghost
Woo-hoo! Great game this morning, 2 3point ends, a 3 rock-takeout (unfortunately by Great Britain), but the US draws to the button on the last rock to take their first Olympic medal in the sport. We're on the board!

It was fun to listen to the Scots discuss strategy, sure wish they'd had subtitles...

Hmm, now what am I going to do...

Great, we've got better curlers than hockey players. . .

Anyone see the Brad Gushue replay in curling, what a shot.

first time Canada won in curling.

Congratulations to Canada!! - some serious curlers there...

I missed the final match, ironically enough because we've been at a junior bonspiel here at the club the past few days. My boy's team won one from a Two Harbors team, but lost to a girl's team from Hibbing (they were deadly). They went 1 and 1 today as well, that should be enough to get them into a playoff game tomorrow.

There was big hockey game at the arena this weekend as well, and lots of hockey fans pressed up against the windows of the curling club. Nice to see the sport getting its due...

It was great to see Canada pick up the gold, they really curl at a different level!
