Hi:
I am a new member from Mexico and i have a discussion. I will buy a new car, my options are pilot EXL 06 or MDX 05.
The pilot 06 is new (0 miles), the price is about $39,000
The MDX 05 is a demo car, it was used in the agency during 2005. it has about 5000 miles and the price is $45,000. But the invoice will be done like new car.
Can you help me to decide?
One more thing, is the VTM-4 useful in the sand? i would like to know if the vtm-4 system works good in the beach.
thanks for your help and congratulation for you very good international forum. :) |

What model and options are on these SUVs? Both sound overpriced, but then again I'm not aware of local prices in your area.
Neither are really meant for offroad and the VTM ability should be the same for both. There are some members who have taken their X on sand, if you search - they might chime in.
It all comes down to personal preference and budget. The MDX has more "luxury" amenities, BlueTooth and XM, depending on the model. |

| I would rather take the brand-new one because for demo, you wouldn't know how they had been "tested" (tortured). |

Welcome. Both vehicles are great and your decision will be personal. As far as function, both vehicles are equal. Is the MDX worth the extra cost for the premium features? Members on this board would obviously say yes. Would I worry about a vehicle with 5K mile?, probably not.
Considering your location, neither vehicle may be the best logical choice. Although I'm no expert, I'm thinking that fuel in your area is relatively cheap and of lesser quality that than in the US. Also, your roads are probably crowded and narrow. Smooth high speed highways may be few. How about service? Outside of Culiacán, is service even available? Keep in mind that both of these vehicles are intended primarily for the super highway ladened US market. Although the X is described a medium-duty off-roader, few of our Xs ever see an unpaved road. If your roads are lousy, you'd be better off with a truck-based SUV.
Something tells me that you want to be different. Although a better choice for your region, the dime-a-dozen Dodge Durango just doesn't cut it. That said, you may want to take a look at some other truck-based premium SUVs. Have you looked at the Lexus LX470 or the equivalent Toyota Landcriuser? |
