First let me say hi to everyone and thanks to anyone in advance that can help. This forum is great as I've been lurking for awhile.
Anyway, I just purchased a set of Vizualogic headrests (the A-1000) for my '06 MDX. I'm going to attempt to put 'em in myself being they look pretty simple to install. While I'm at it, I'm also going to put in a Music Link. I've done some searches on this forum on any tips but really haven't found anything specific to these headrests. The music link looks pretty simple being that it's basically a plug 'n play.
My question is, where would I tap into to power these (the headrests), you know the constant and switched? I figured I can tap into the "lighter" in the dash for the switched, but what about the constant? Straight into the battery?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again! |

| Hey thanks, I did see that one before. However although very helpful on the physical headrest installation, he doesn't really go into specifics about the power tapping. I also noticed the headrests I bought come w/a parking brake wire. Does this need to be connected being they're in the back seat? |

| That was my thread. I basically tapped everything to either the "not an ashtray" and center console outlets. Everything's been working fine for the past 8+ months and I use them pretty frequently. |

Awesome help guys. I still have a few questions though and I apologize for being annoying but all this info is very helpful.
1. Will the "not an ashtray" plug still work after you plug into it?
2. When you routed the wires through the seat, did you have to remove the seat "cover" or did you just fish 'em through? I'm just scared to mess w/the seat warming elements.
3. What did you do about the parking brake wire? I was told you have to plug it in 'cuz it's the law, but it doesn't make sense being the monitors are in the back seat.
4. So you tapped both the switched and constant power lines to the "not an ashtray" plug, nothing to the battery?
Thanks again for all your help and input. |

1. Yes, it will work. I have my DVD player plugged in there.
2. It'll be easier if you remove it but not absolutely necessary.
3. Toss it.
4. I didn't tap anything to the battery. Aside from being a PIA to do, I didn't want to because I know one day someone will forget to shut off the monitor and it'll completely drain the battery. Also, everything still works when the ignition is on I so it's not like its a major difference in terms of battery use.
