My one year MX contract is about to expire. Are there any promotions out there. After the first 3 months free, I only paid $60 for the next 12.
Thanks! |

You may have to call a few times to get it to go through, but you can get a $77 deal which is the old $60 deal.
It took me 3 times to get someone to put it through. If you search on the forum you will find the numbers to call and the best thing to say, just search 'xm renewal'. |

| They've been giving away the half price $77 renewal for the asking. If you don't ask, they will start charging your credit card $18 a month "as a courtesy." |

I just renewed my XM for 3 years (I know it is optimistic based on their earnings or lack therof.) for $8.80 per month. If I wanted to gamble on 5 years, they would have gone to $8.33 per month, but I figured they would be out of business long before the 60 months expired. 36 months was a gamble enough. I did have to pay for it upfront.
Just did this last week. I told them originally that I wanted to drop the service, so they sent me to a customer retention department. They originall sent me a letter advising me that they were going to start charging me $14 or $16 per month- can't remember the exact amount. For that, they can keep the service. For less than $9.00, I'll keep it. |

| Why did you chose a three year, $100 a year plan, versus the $77, one year special plan? Does the three year plan come with other features? |

I didn't see anything about the $77 per year at the time I renewed. I probably still would have signed up for the $9.00 per month for the 3 years so I won't be bothered every year.
The $77.00 is still pretty darn good deal. |

| I just renewed at $80 for one year - the 3rd time I called I got a US citizen (the 1st 2 times went out of the country). He "gave" me a $40 "discount" from the "standard" price (note the 3 year normal price is approx $120/year). I start conversation with "I'm thinking of not renewing 'cause of your high prices" - might have helped. |

| Great information... just got the $77 deal for 1 year. Had to make a few calls to get a customer service rep to acknowledge the $77 promotion but they did. Thanks to all. |

If a vehicle comes equiped with an "XM Radio" is the only station that it will receive. What I am really asking is if XM goes under will the same piece of hardware be able to pick up Sirius? Which I never hear about in reference to an automobile.

| Good question G. Colton and I have the same concern, however, since they (XM) already have several million subscribers I'm sure the signal will be around for some time to come.... believe they will tighten their format and focus the number of stations to appeal to the mass vise fringe listeners.... I guess we will see. |

An XM receiver cannot pickup a sirius signal. There are some auto mfgrs that offer built in sirius instead of XM. Ultimately there will probably be dual receivers so manufacturers can offer either but they are not available now. And if XM ever goes out of business it is likely that sirius would also because it would mean that the satellite radio business model didn't work. Both companies are not turning a profit yet and sirius has half the subscribers of XM. Right now XM is ahead in the equipment arena offering portable units that will play sat radio live as well as mp3s. |
