Hey folks,

I just purchased a new '06 SBP w/ebony interior last week and was wondering if the rear deflector is worth it. I'm not talking about the spoiler but the deflector. If anyone had one installed after they drove around w/o it, did they notice any difference when it rained?
Thanks and glad to be part of the crew. Sold my '04 TL.

I have the same question on my '06; so I hope somebody answers you.:)

I got an aftermarket one off of ebay a few months after not having it. I like how it works. With a little Rain-X, water flows right down the back window. The window also doesn't get as dusty as it used to before I had it.

I have always liked the tailgate deflector. It will never improve your 1/4 mile ET's, but it will give your MDX a sportier look. The tailgate deflector definitely keeps the rear window cleaner of dust at freeway speeds. As far as rain, on the rear window...that's what the rear wiper is for.

I'd say the functional gains are inconclusive, and as others have pointed out, it's mostly cosmetic. My preference is the spoiler, or at least to paint-match the deflector.

Although I do remember seeing a quote that the spoiler did have some dampening effects above 250 mph :2:

I had the deflector on my '01 and now have the spoiler on my '05. Decision was purely cosmetic (we liked the look of the spoiler better). This winter, with the cold weather and exhaust fumes, I've noticed that the vehicle seems to "drag" the clouds of fumes a lot more than my '01 (i.e., the fumes don't dissipate as quickly and just hang around the back window at speeds up to 50 mph). Not sure if this is the result of the spoiler effect or not, but I do notice it.

Any other cold-weather inhabitors notice this on their spolier-less or deflector-less vehicles?

Simple answer:
Any assessory specifically OEM and installed by dealership, boost the value of your vehicle....
Nuff said.....
Black (ebony whatever......) interior is ALWAYS worth more.........:D :D
