| I am planning to buy a 2006 MDX with touring package since we need a big car after the baby was born. I have never drive the MDX, the reason I decide to buy the MDX is because of the good looking, performance, luxury and roomy. I believe the ride will be very comfortable and quiet. Here, just wondering whether or not the quality is good. From "Knowledge base" section, looks like there are lots of problem on the MDX. Is it true? Please advise. |

The MDX does have its quirks, though the 06s seem pretty well refined. Any car will have its problems, and the MDX is likely to be less troublesome than any domestics.
Good idea in steering clear from minivans
As it seems like you are still on the fence as to what to get, may I suggest you get navigation?
Finally, the reason you hear a lot about problems in a place like this is because most people stuble accross these boards when they are looking for an answer to a problem. A happy owner with no concerns for their vehicle generally does not go looking around at message boards, not to say they don't, but more often than not...

My 04 has 60,000 miles and have had no problems other than the subwoofer rattle. This is a very good vehicle for the money. Also, the 06 will be the last year for this current model and all the bugs will be worked out. I think it's a good buy for you and if you read this forum, it appears that deep discounts will be coming up to sell the remaining 06s, mas the new 07s will likely come out in Sept/oct. The only problem is that you may be sad when ou see the new model come out and just bought the 06. I have driven my X for about 2 years, and still enjoy everything about it. |

I was going to say something regarding the 07, but since you seemed to be stressing reliability I thought it best not to premote a first year model, though we will be getting the 07. Though this could vary greatly depending what you are coming from. What vehicle is the mdx "replacing," what do you guys own now? Coming from a mopar(dodge grand caravan) and as I just googled and found out a first year model, this thing should be a cake walk.

| Are we pretty sure that the MDX will be redesigned in 2007? How come there is no such information available from internet? |

That's the rumor, Honda/Acura is very tight lipped about future models....not 100% sure why, but Tim from Honda Acura World who is a great friend to this site has already started a thread on the new accessories for the 07. Here's the thread: http://acuramdx.org/forums/showthre...007+accessories |

my dealer said I coudl put down a deposit but that pricing is not yet available for the 07, I assume that means its a redesign... Without saying it directly he basically aknowledged it would be a redesign.

Get off you computer and get into the dealership and test drive one. After that, head over to a Honda dealership and drive the Pilot to get a good comparison.
Unless the dealership is trying to sell you the X for $5K+ below MSRP, don't buy on first impluse. Come back to the board with question adn it could probably be answered much better than the car salesman who is trying to sell you the vehicle.
Don't read about the car that you are planning to spend $40K on...spend some time testing it out first. |

| Be aware that many of the significant problems discussed on this board - e.g. the transmission problems - were in earlier model years and do not apply to the '06 model. My '05 has been great with no problems to date and this seems to be the general experience, other than minor issues, with '04 on. |

Good advice. We have never had any of the problems talked about on this forum, so they must be rare. Our choice was between the Pilot and the MDX, but chose the MDX because it was a luxury car rather than a family car, which is the Pilot. And when comparing them feature for feature, the MDX was only a few thousand more for a higher class vehicle, plus it has a few more things that the Pilot doesn't have. |
