He all, new to the forums. I purchased my 01' Base model MDX about a week ago. I am adding a DVD video system and I have a couple of concerns.
1- I have been told by local professional installers that by installing a drop-down monitor from the headliner, it will sometimes mess up the sunroof and the sliding shade!?
2- Are the headrests different from 01-02'?
3- Would it be better to go with the headrests or the drop-down?
The rest of the system will consist of the following:
Kenwood KVT-717DVD in-dash
Polk/Momo 5.25" F&R door replacements
Polk/Momo 400.4 amp to run mids & highs
Please help me out guys! Thanks a million!!
If you have done either of the monitor installs and have pics, please post them... |

Welcome!
1. If your installer told you that, run like crazy coz they obviously don't know what they're doing. The drop-down can be done.
2. Same headrests. You can even upgrade to the taller 04 headrests.
3. It's a matter of preference. Some people are bothered by the drop-down obscuring the rear view. FWIW, it usually doesn't matter to the kiddies. |

| Thanks for the welcome! I have been doing a little more research, talked with some other installers from a couple of durrounding areas, and they told me the same thing you said. If they've had problems with the drop-downs, then their doing something wrong. The main companies that I'm looking at are from SAVV, Rosen, and Delphi. The SAVV headrests are the ones I'm looking at doing, but, they only offer them for the 02-05' MDX. Guess it doesn't matter since their all the same anyway. The Delphi and Rosen offer a 10.2" drop-down system that is pretty nice, but, I still like the idea of the headrests. That way, I can run the signal from the in-dash and control it from there. |
