I have a 2004 mdx with nav and res. My wife wants to install XM, but I don't know where I would put it or how it would work with the existing radio.

If you have nav/res and you have gotten xm installed, would you mind telling me where you put the head unit, the antenna, and if you have any pictures you could post or link me to would that would be great also.

Thanks in advance.

Bigmac99,

I thought xm was standard on all trim levels. The xm turner should be built in to your radio/cd unit.

Don't think it was in 2004.

xandi,

that is std on 2005 or newer. 2004 did not come with an xm option.

Thanks

Wow, I did not know that. Then, what are those antenas for? When I switched my system to Pioneer, I lost my xm as well. I had to get the new receiver and it is sitting under my seat. I don't know what I would do without my xm :)

I put my XM Commander on the dash just above the HVAC controls. I took a piece of ABS then heated it and manipulated it into the desired shap. Ran all the wires to the rear area near the stock subwoofer and ran the antenna throught a spot on the right rear tail light. Then concealed the wire and routed the antenna to mount just behind the stock mast. I will take some pictures tonight and post them here.

The XM reciever is not built inot the radio- it's in a box behind the left rear plastic trim. It is, however, integrated with the rest of the stereo, Nav, and Onstar. That's in the wiring network. If you replace the headend, you disturb the wiring network.
Good thing your MDX still starts!

anybody have photo's of how you integrated the xm radio receiver into your existing radio system with Nav and Res?

My wife wants to see what it would look like before we try to get it installed.

Thanks
Charles
