Anyone catch the opener last night? I thought it got off to a great start!
xfactor
Agreed... I don't want to say too much. May ruin it for those who havent seen it yet...

Tony getting shot was the last thing I expected. . .

With both bosses, NY and NJ, out of commission, should be prime opportunity for those vying for their positions.

LL - You might want to add a lot of veritical space below the word SPOILER so people don't accidentally read your next line.

I thought the episode was great and needed to be after last season. How can other series like 24 and CSI put out consistently good shows year after year but we have to wait so long in between seasons for the Sopranos and Deadwood?

I was thinking the same thing!!

24 is still the best series, hands down.

The suicide by hanging scene freaked me out ...:16:

Is Tony really going to die in the first episode? And having him killed by his uncle is pretty lame. what do you guys think?

He's not dying. . . maybe, he'll lose some weight while in the hospital.
MacJag
I thought I was seeing things laborlitigator, Tony looks bigger this year 280? [rememeber when he was stepping on the scale] more like 300+.

And was it me or my 5.1 surround sound picking up his heavy breathing all the time?

Anyways, great way to start the season.
BLACK-BLING-MDX
MacJag, I remember reading somewhere that his heavy breathing was going to be more prevalant this season. Why? beats me, but Tony's breaths are definitely numbered!

They did that on purpose  Very annoying :3:

I actually like the breathing. Adds to the background.

This second episode should be interesting... Hang in there Tony!

Power struggle is a comin based on tonights episode....don't want to say too much until our West Coast members get to see it.

I really liked the 2nd episode especially when AJ visits his dad. That was pretty moving.

I actually thought that was the worst episode ever. I am not bashing. I enjoy the show a lot. But last night was awful. I found it to be loaded with filler and no significant substance. Tony, wake up already.......

Couldn't' agree more!! I am hoping that episode was the calm before the storm....
slash007
based on the previews, it does look like the calm before the storm, but if I had to guess, I would say that as crazy as it sounds, maybe tony doesn't wake up or does but stays in the hospital and the whole season is about other people in the 'family" having a power struggle between themselves and the other families. They won't get rid of tony, so he will be alive but of limited capacity so that his being alive will factor into all of the power struggles as no one can officialy take over the family while he is alive. His acting roles might be limited to laying in the hospital bed and in a bunch of flashbacks. I hope I'm wrong, but the doctor did say they are now trying to control the amount of brain damage and not the brain damage itself. What do you guys think?

I watched 3 episodes this weekend as a Dish freebie.
I used to have HBO. Seemed like I never left.
As far as the shotgun episode, with the crazy uncle, makes it look like the show is running out of fresh ideas and needs new spark. I guess time will tell if that was a good move.

I did not subscribe. With only 1 HD channel @ $15/mo. foggetaboutit!

After one or two weeks of viewing the rest of the month will be repeats; been there done that.

Get enough out my other channels plus Netfilx. But the Sopranos are unique, I will give 'em that.

But those aren't flashbacks. They were of him in a different life. Different wife, different kids, and different occupation. He's a business traveler diagnosed with Alzheimer's which must tie in to Uncle Junior somehow in his head.

I concur, worst episode ever. There was no substance at all! Btw, I hate how Tony's son AJ looks now.

What he said ...
slash007
that episode was horrible. just one big filler that wasted a whole slot out of the 20 total episodes. no action at all.

Glad Tony came out of the coma because I was about to go into one...

Now I hope we can get down to some real family business!
