We have an '06 MDX. Not that this a terribly big deal, but I am just curious to ask. The NAV works well enough, but we have noticed that its accuracy for arrival at the final destination can be off by
about 25 yards or so. I am comparing this to the portable Magellan Roadmate 700, which we also own. The Magellan, in comparision, will navigate you right into the driveway of the destination upon arrival.
Why might the Acura software be off, or do I maybe need to calibrate something? Its not a terribly big deal, but I am curious to know what the Magellan is more pin-point than the Acura NAV.
Thanks. |

I believe the accuracy of civilian GPS is 50 Yards, so to be off by 25 yards is not unreasonable.
As for the roadmate, maybe it is also capable of leveraging differential GPS? |

It's probably not an issue of the GPS accuracy, but the map accuracy. Not all of the addresses in the map are confirmed, some are estimates based on extrapolated data (varies by city).
I find the Nav system also tells you have reached your destination slightly before you get there - I see this more as a "heads-up" feature rather than a miscue. If you zoom in all the way on the map, see if it is the destination that is off or just the early notification that is throwing you.
There are other threads on this topic in the forum and you can go to the Alpine website to get more details on the Nav map coverage. |

You don't need to, but you can if it really bugs you. The option is buried deep in Setup | More | if I recall correctly. I wouldn't do it. |
