| I'm looking for some help/ info on the best way to remove gum from my leather seat without damaging or staining the seat. The heated seats seemed to melt the gum into the leather . Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |

Have you tried the ice cube trick. To do this you use an ice cube)s) to freeze the gum. Then it "breaks" off.
Cleaning will depend upon how long the gum has been on the seat and whether or not it has beem mashed into the leather.
Try not to use solvents on the leather seat as this will take the oil out of the leather. If you do have to use a solvent to get rid of the gum be sure to put the oil back into the leather using mink oil or something similar.

Try covering it in smooth peanut butter, letting it work in for an hour or so and then gently scraping it off with a plastic spoon or plastic putty knife. The peanut butter oil breaks down the gum and won't damage the leather.

Just to let everyone know....WD-40 took the gum off with ease. After I removed the gum I conditioned the leather with some mink oil.And the seat looks just like the day I drove it out of the show room.
Thanks for all the replies and suggestions. |
