OK, we know the FX is no comparison when it comes to cargo and people carrying capability...

But from a "G-Ride" stand point; which is the best ride?
For those that don't understand "G-Ride" let's just say you're a single man, no girlfriend or wife; or maybe one steady girl or wife, no kids; and you don't believe in ridign in your vehicle with all the seats filled at all times.

Considering the information above, and taking into consideration the ride comfort, head turning factor, fuel efficiency, sportiness, power, aftermarket accesorizing (If that's your thing) and overall liveability- being as objective as possible, which would you rather have in your garage?

1.) Acura MDX Touring, DVD, Navi
2.) Infiniti FX 35 loaded, Navi
3.) Lexus RX350 loaded, Navi

If you have family, I would suggest MDX...

If you are a girl, then MDX or RX... Now, if your a girlie man, you can pick the RX...

If your a guy then pick the MDX or FX, since you stated your single and have a GF you may want to pick the FX for more agressive driving to impress your GF. Bad side if your GF wants to go lots of places well eat up on those gasoline for the FX.

FX for sure. I have my sights set on a FX45 in the very near future.

How bout a Toyota Sienna?
:D

Seriously, if I wanted a G-ride, I'd get a 2-door coupe like a Porsche or the latest Vette, or even an S2000, if budget is an issue. I certainly wouldn't get a hulking SUV (don't get me wrong I love my X but it serves a purpose for a 3 kid family).

Among your choices, though, the FX is the only decent one.

agree! Would get a S2000/G35 coupe/350Z/RX8 instead of SUV. ;)

Looking at what you guys consider a "G-Ride", maybe I don't know what a "G-Ride" is...

My definition of a G-Ride is anything that's slamming, and appealing to a member of the opposite sex.

1.) Any full-size SUV that's smaller than a suburban, but larger than a Durango, and rolling on at least 20" wheels.
2.) Certain Crossover & small SUV's: (FX, Magnum *Hemi, X5 4.4 and above)
3.) 300C
4.) 300 SRT-8
5.) Anything with a Hemi in it.
6.) Escalade EXT

7.) 3 series (Coupe)
8.) 5 series (540 & up)
9.) 7 series (Nuff said)
10.) E-500
11.) S-430 & up
12.) SL (Nuff said)
13.) Porsche: Anything above a Boxster S
14.) Maxima 1985 - Present, *Appropriately customized
15.) 300 ZX (1990 - 1996)
16.) G35 Sedan
17.) Corvette

Lexus: N/A
Audi: N/A
VW: N/A

A year ago I was going to pull the trigger on an FX45 - Beryllium (the beautiful color you have pictured) - however, I went with the 6MT G35; I've always had a manual, and I couldn't give it up (at least just yet).

Based on your initial three - and keeping in mind this is a "G-ride" (if I termed it correctly) - I'd go with the FX.

Insert reality, and it's back to the MDX.

And if I didn't have a wife and family, and was looking only for a "G-ride", it'd be Z06 6-sp all the way.

I traded an '04 FX35 for an '06 M35 at the end of last year; so fo over a year I owned aboth an MDX and an FX. From your list I'd choose the RX350 loaded. But that would only be my choice in SUVs.

Which is exactly WHY I traded the FX for the M  :1: The wife hated the FX! But the loves the M :2:

By the way since your selection criteria involves appealing to the spouse; I had to choose the RX350 (see above post).

:21: Nothing like an inefficient 30 year old engine under your hood :4: It takes a 6.1 Liter V8 to get a 5 click 0-60 (Charger SRT8)? That's hilarious! There's V4s with better output!!

The only crowd you attract with Hemis usually smells of Bengay :4:

Real life question...

my wife drove an 01 MDX until last weekend when we replaced it with an 06 MDX

On days I need a 4 door or the weather sucks I'm driving an 05 FX.

On sunny days or when I'm going it alone, it's an 01 911 cabrio.

The FX is the most amazing handling SUV I've driven, including the Cayenne turbo. It rivals the porsche. really.

So yes, I prefer the FX over the MDX. But my wife may have a different opinion!

Which equivalent size/weight vehicles currently in mass production are getting 5 sec 0 - 60 times with 4 cylinder engines?

Well I wouldn't consider any of them "G rides". But I would have to say the Infiniti FX. I guess some men like the aggresive styling of it. And well the RX330 or 350 is pretty momish in my opinion. And the MDX is typicly a vehicle for people with kids it seems. The bmw 5 series and the mercedes SLK roadsters are more like "G rides" in my opinion.

oh ya...the other day while i was in Boston I saw the FX with dubs.

Are you kidding...SLK? That's got to be one of the most feminine cars ever. I don't know of a single one that isn't owned by a female. They're about as manly as a pink Miata. Even an SLK55 AMG isn't a man's car, it's more like a car for Rosie O'Donnell, or a female lumberjack or gym teacher, if you catch my drift.

That's exactly what I think of the RX. It's got that "girly-man" feel to it.

Regardless of family needs, my next vehilce will be a "G-ride".

The FX is a bit too look-at-me. Not too mention, questionable reliability and economy from the 4.5L. The 3.5L lacks the HP to go with the aggressive lines of the FX.
The RX is way too girly.
The MDX is too versatile to be a G-ride candidate.

I'd go with the 330i, but the whole ostentatious BMW wannabe thing is a tad too much. I like the "I've arrived and F-you" image conveyed by the 5 series, but the cost. My G-ride shall be...the IS350 (just right).

Of the 3 original SUVs mentioned..........the obvious "G-Ride" pick for me is the Infiniti FX. It has a stance that no other SUV has.

However I don't at all agree with Big Hersh's Lexus, Audi, and VW snubs. By his own definition a G ride needs to appeal to female types. And Lexus, Audi and VW are EXACTLY the brands that appeal to most females.

Yeah I guess it is a bit to sleek looking. And now that I think of it I know two people own an SLK and both are woman. I change the SLK to a BMW 6 series coupe or convertible.

Most women think the vehicles most-often suggested in the posts above are for men who need to... ahem... compensate for their shortcomings, if you know what I mean. The RX is the one to get the conversation started with the ladies. It's the one they love, and they know you're not insecure.

On the other hand, if you want to meet lots of burly guys with no dates on Saturday night, a Vette should do the trick, as will a Hemi or a Harley.

Or you could just go to a leather bar and save yourself a ton of money.

Based on your criteria why would I be looking at any of those vehicles? Years ago in my bachelor days I was looking for a fun vehicle. One that I could use at an SCCA Autocross on the weekinds. Now I am looking for a vehicle that provides comfort and convenience.
