Bob checks out his new ride.
Bob Barleycorn is his full name. Ten years old in June.
He's not too sure if he's "supposed" to be in such fine surroundings as the X.
This was his first time in the car and he has gained a lot of confidence since then that this is his new "place".
Will try to get a pic of Bob in his "Mr Smiley" mode, Smiley being his other (of many) nicknames

Not too 'smiley' but he looks content, like most inhabitants of an MDX.

Just wanted to take a brief moment to thank everyone who's posted on this thread. I'm highly allergic to virtually every pet here and that's probably a good thing. Otherwise, I'd come to your houses and steal them all for myself!

Seriously, this is one of the best off-topic threads on the site. I love it! Keep 'em coming. Thanks for posting everybody!

Actually quite impressive. Its a lot of fun to hear him tell the dogs to "get out" or when the phone rings, he calls for my daughter! Kidding aside, he is really very smart and while you can not have a conversation with him, I am sure he understands a lot. His comments are very timely.
BigDog
Cool Maik. My mom has an African Grey. She also has two other parrots but I don't remember what kind. They do have incredible vocabularies. One of her birds says at bedtime: Night night, sleep tight, bugs bite. :2: They all also imitate the ringing of the phone so well that she can't tell the difference. She does have two way conversations with hers and I swear they understand. It's just amazing.

Bethany was our first baby after my wife and I were married, a real sweetheart, but she was hit by a car last Labor Day weekend while visiting in-laws. Even after they're gone, a good dog is a joy forever. Soon thereafter, we found another special dog at a shelter so I'll have to post a photo of her sometime.

We have two cats, too, but I don't think we even have pictures of them. Cats are cute only as kittens, and then you trade them in for new ones.

This is our 5th Dachshund. 1 of them fell down the stairs and was completely parlized.

Ashley is beautiful, Mocking-DX! She looks like she's a big girl - how much does she weigh? I know she's great company when you're driving around.

(We had a Persian, Bonkers, who rode with us on long trips and his favorite 'traveling treat' was a little of a Wendy's Frosty! Of course, this all took place before we had children, now our cats stay home.)
Mocking-DX
thanks catzx6
ashley is only around 6 Lbs, 1 year old(human)
she sits on my lap most of the time during our 3.5-hour drives

OREO actually is bigger and heavier
he's my wife's. He likes to give her head massage before we go to sleep every night

He's beautiful, too. I guess the up-close picture made Ashley look "larger than life!" I'm amazed she sits there for that long of a trip. You're lucky!

Here's a pic of my dog Ginger. She's a Brittany, and has been a wonderful pet. She almost died from getting the Parvo virus when she was a pup, but she made it through and has been great ever since. We are so lucky to have her!

This pic was taken by me using my wife's Palm Zire71 handheld. Pretty neat gadget.

Good job! What are the odds of getting three dogs to stay still for a photo?

btw, Are two or three dogs really any more trouble than one? We rescued our dog and we wondered about getting another sometime.

Hey Remery,

Cute - but how many animals you keeping there? Between your livestick and tractors, you probably qualify as an agricultural operation! :D:D

Happy Holidays!
remery
Ghost,
Max makes the livestock total 6 - 2 dogs and 4 cats plus a tractor to herd them all in from the back 40!:D And don't think I have considered that agricultural exemption for my property taxes which are more than a morgage payment in your neck of the woods. However it's kind of tough to claim I can milk a Welsh Corgi!!!;)

Remery,

Is that a Pembroke Welsh Corgi? Sure looks like one, if so, here's a pic of mine, 9 1/2 years young...hope the attachment works, if not I'll try again.

It's an interesting photo, but two tips:

Tip #1. Reduce the overall size of the image with PhotoShop, don't just reduce the jpeg image quality to make a 100k file size

Tip#2: You never want to have a dog with a bigger johnson than your own.
rusha

She usually goes through half a can on a full day out on the boat. At 85lbs it doesn't effect her, she has gotten a little tipsy a couple times because she swims to other boats begging for beer, and every one gives her swigs.

I really like seeing everyone's pets! Its a really good idea!

Anyway, here are mine, there's a cat around here someplace, but she's not very social!

Katie (left) and Bebe

We got Katie (a golden retriever) from some people we met at the vet's who needed to find a home for her with a better yard set-up...

Bebe (a Bichon Frisé) is a human society wash-out! (a former puppy mill breeding mother :( But she has a good life now! (Better than mine, I sometimes think...)

They're the calm ones...
BWSmith201
And Juno (she was dumped by some SOB, I got her at the Vet's office while in Tennessee)...she's been across the country in my X several times! (Gotta love dog hair on that black interior!!!)

Doesn't she look sort of unimpressed?

Don't ask me what kind she is...the vet doesn't even know!

She watches the TV and barks at violence...its really strange...

I think she's protecting us!

We had some sad news a while ago. Our golden retriever, Katie, died (she had to be put down, she was suffering from lung cancer).

It's tough, but it was the right thing to do, there was no way we wanted to have her suffer and there wasn't anything that could be done about it.

James Herriot said that "no matter how much joy he gives you, you know your dog will one day break your heart. The day he dies..."

It's worth it to have a dog, but it doesn't quite seem fair that they live such a short time!

They're better than us, I think.

I just thought an update was in order.

PS- The latest editions are really nice looking pets! Having pets is a wonderful thing.

Take care all.

BW,

So sorry to hear about Katie. We went through similar pain a little more than a year ago with our "Max" when we had to put him down. Max was the inspiration for this site (in the old days!). Several of us, including Remery have shared similar loss.

Our thoughts are with you...
