ok.... so i finally had time to take a breather at work this week.... and decided to do a little research on the comment someone made about acura (honda) using "soft" glass... uhm... WOW! what an eye opener.. YES! they DO use "soft" glass.. and the internet has a TON of complaints from honda and accura owners about the problem!

the more i thought about my pitted windows... and the weather.. yes... we had wind.. but NOTHING that even rated "high wind warnings" or "blowing sand".... yet my brand new vehicle has horrible pitted windows... ALL of them? yet the paint is perfect (well.. ok... not perfect.. it has dealing "installed" swirl marks.. but NO pitting in the paint!

i spent a lot of money on my mdx and i didn't expect to have crummy windows within 6 weeks! (even my accord's windows didn't get that pitted during the whole 3 years i owned it! even though it, too was honda glass.... and it went through LOTS of desert wind and sand.... )

Where are all of these other complaints recorded? I have seen nothing on this forum.

I am puzzled by how even "soft" glass can be softer then paint. Is there any explanation for this in any of the posts?

How do you know that there has been no damage to the paint. Damage would be to the clear coat unless severe. It would not be as obvious as would damage to glass that is collecting the sun's rays.

desert,
If your windows were damaged by wind-driven sand, you may be able to get them replaced under the "glass coverage" section of your insurance. Glass often has no deductible, even though yo may have chosen a higher deductible for collision and comprehensive. Filing a claim agains glass coverage in many states cannot be used against your premium rating, too.
But the damage has to be visible. Is it?
