I am coming over from the Azine forum with a 2001 TL. The TL transmission just blew up and the wife is looking at the MDX. It did not take long to figure out that the MDX has some transmission problems of its own.
Do all years of the MDX have trannie problems?
What else do I need to know before we throw down $$ on an MDX? |

We have an 05 TL so I hung out there until I was ban for no reason when robb went to jail, still trying to get back in. You ever hang out in ramblings?
My understanding of the situation is that the problem with the trannies is virtually gone in the newer models(with a few exceptions, but no more than in any other car). I believe this extends out through the Acura line, basically honda has been doing better with their trannies.

Transmission was redesigned for the '03 MDX, and the same design exists for '03 - '06. There have been a few reports of issues with these model years and the tranny, but not nearly to the extent that we've seen with 01 and 02. That being said, there are many very satisifed 01 and 02 owners, so who knows.....
2004 and newer contain some cosmetic changes, additional airbags, TPMS, projectors, and some other goodies; 2005 and newer have the bluetooth integration and satellite radio.
Another consideration is that the MDX is due for a major redesign in 2007, and so this fall might be a good time to get a good deal on an 06. Many seem to be getting pretty good deals right now as well (invoice, or close to it). |

I hear ya with the TL, as I am on my 4th tranny on my 02. That said, I have had the same tranny for over 2 years, with the oil jet install and it has been fine. My 04 MDX has 60,000 miles on it with no problems. |
