I love the car. Love the drive. It's comfortable as can be, and overall I'm STILL very pleased with my purchase.....but the voice recognition is atrocious!
"XM channel 80" I say. "Temperature 80" she says.
"Information screen" I say. "XM scan" she says.
"XM channel 8" I say. "XM scan" she says. This happened FIVE TIMES. I had to turn the radio off and back on again to get the recognition to follow my directions.
Sometimes the voice recognition comes back with something that has absolutely no similarity with what I initially stated.
I'd say the system gets my voice right maybe 70% o the time at very best...and I speak very clearly. I'm wondering if my system is defective.
Anyone else have this problem? |

It will get better, as the MDX lady teaches you how to speak to her. For example, the scan command is best spoken as "XM...... Channel Scan". Yet the channel command is " XM Channel........42".
I get probably 95% recognition with windows closed below 65 mph. That goes to heck with windows open, rough noisy roads, or passengers speaking in background.
I find that I have devleoped the habit of turning my head towards the upper console microphone as I give a command. She must have trained me to do that with Skinnerian positive reinforcement.
I have no success in trying to enter addresses into the go to Menu screen, however. I only enter those manually. |
