I did the unthinkable, but I was in a crunch and needed to wash the car fast. I found a touchless wash figuring it was the lesser of two evils (loose the wax from strong soaps or get scratches from a brush wash). I rationalized that it was coming up on re-wax time anyway.
So, it got the car clean and did take off my remaining wax protection, but it also wreaked havoc on my plastic trim:

I hand washed my car approximately 40 times over the past year and a half and my trim never showed any signs of wear.
Just a caution to those who use automatic washes frequently. The soaps are very strong and affect more than just your paint. Be sure to condition your trim regularly to prevent it from drying out. I conditioned my trim 3 times with 303 after that incident and I can still see some of the staining.
