I can't get on any website with an IP address that starts with 192., which is what my wireless router starts with. I always thought it was just the router. As it turns out, my wife's laptop (running XP) can access any of those sites with no problems. So far I'm not finding anything on microsoft.com

I've got Windows 98, IE 6 SP1. Same thing happens when I use Firefox.

Help !

Thanks. :)

Check your subnet mask settings.

I'm guessing your wireless router is 192.168.1.1 if it is you would expect the subnet mask to be 255.255.255.0

If the mask was set to 255.0.0.0 your machine/router would expect that anything 192.x.x.x would be part of your network.

Can I do anything with settings ?

Yes you can change it but where you change it depends on your setup. If you PM a instant messenger ID I could discuss further.

Do you use a DHCP or fixed IP address on your machine (the one that doesn't work)?

To explain the subnet mask a little further a router IP address of 192.168.1.1 and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 means that anything 192.168.1.x is inside your network and thus anything other than that would be routed outside.

Hope that helps.
