| It's time to replace the rear shocks on my 01. Have anyone done this? How easy or where can I find the instruction? Thanks |

| I am about due also. What brands are you looking at? Monroe? KYB? I see the Monroe has the sensa trak or the reflex. |

I am going for the Monroe Reflex since it got the newer design from Monroe. |

I was told at Advance Auto parts that the Reflex shocks offer a firmer ride than the cheaper sensa tracs. He recommended the Sensa-tracs over the Reflex. Usually, parts guys don't try to sell you the cheaper part...and because of that I would follow his advice. I'm not needing shocks for my MDX right now, but when I do it'll be the Sensa-tracs.
I have the KYB GR-2's on my other car and they are very good. They are valved a little firmer than OEM, which is OK on my supercharged 98 Regal...but I want a smoother ride on the MDX. The stock suspension on the '02 is on the firm side already. |

Wow! You guys made it sounds like replacing the shocks is a regular maintenance item.
Why you want to replace them anyway? Something wrong with them already? |

| I have 70,000 on my 01 MDX and am wondering how you know you even need new shocks. I drove the new MDX and yes it feels like a better rider than ine but I don`t think new shocks are the answer. I figure that it is a 5 year vehicle so it should be a better ride in the new MDX. I tow my Seadoos 5 times a year and butt end sags a bit when I tow it and drags a tiny bit going ot of driveways when I have it loaded and towing but I don`t think that is an indication of needing new shocks nor is mt tire wear excessive. Shouldn`t a ACURA be able to go 100 grand without changing shocks and sparkplugs? We aren`t driving American made vechicles that is why I got an Acura. |

Depends where you live. Judging by your post I think its safe to assume it doesn't snow in Yorba Linda?
When you live in places it snows(real snow, not 2 inches a winter) you live in places with craters in the roadway called "potholes". They will wear out your shocks, bushings and joints long before the same car in Florida needs them. |

I've said this before in other posts:
Bushings made a huge difference in my ride. Replacing shocks and struts did very little. I'm not too impressed with the KYBs |
