Has anyone installed Poron parking aid on MDX 2005. I saw some pics of installs on models prior to 2005. The bottom of the bumper was straight. It is not straight anymore. Any suggestions? Better yet pics? Thank you in advance.

romicva,

First of all, :welcome: to acuramdx.org

Poron parking aid is a universal system, so it fits almost any bumper configuration. The actual part that attaches to the bumper and the part with the sensors are connected by a hinge that is flexible and can be adjusted to a desired angle (the part containing the sensors can still be positioned perpendicular to the ground, regardless of what the bumper angle on the bottom is).

Some close up pictures of Poron system installed can be found in this old thread:

For a more custom look, if desired, the rubber pieces containing the sensors can be mounted directly to the bumper without using the hinged plastic part. In this case, however, you will need to drill holes in the bumper to allow the wires to pass through.

I have had this system installed on my '01 MDX for several years now, and it works great.

Good luck.

FOLLOW UP>>> Anyone with a 04-06 with this system? I viewed the post with kinmanc's 01', 02', or 03' X, but need tips on installation for the 04'+ rear bumper style.

I still haven't installed mine. Can't seem to find a good location on the 04 bumper style. Above mufflers?... very hard to reach, also maybe too hot for the plastic... Anyone has the pics?

Thank you.

I'm about to go do exploratory surgery :25: with my X and this system here in a moment and I'll get back to you. I'm determined to find a way to install it.

Please, let me know if I can be of any help. I removed the spare and got a lot more head room down there. Also routing from the storage box down to the behind the bumper are is not a problem. It's all about placing sensors.... good luck.

Well, I think I have done it. Here is how I placed the sensor on my 04' X. It was a long and tedious morning, but I think its a winner.

If your wondering about the heat from the exhaust, the tip is actually not hot at all. I had to drive across town in the middle of installation and discovered when I returned home that the exhaust tip was hot as hot to be expected. I think I am gonna re-do the center one; it a bit crooked'.

Wow - looks great! I am impressed it only took you 1 day. Any installation hints/pointers? Is this placement effective? Thank you. It's great to know it's possible.

I just ran the wires just like the other posts on poron installation. I didn't use any screws, just a good brand of double side tape; not that stuff that came in the kit.
Just, when you place them over the exhaust tip make sure you set the correct angle of the bracket and lock it in place before using the tape.
Also have a small piece of tape on the bottom of the hinged bracket onto the tip to keep the sensor at the correct angle.
It looks as if this will do the trick. I'll let you know if I run into any problems or object at that :D!

DIRTY!? I knows dis, Man!!!
