MDX owners - Searched the forum but didn't find a solution to this problem (Which others have reported)
Basically, my MDX's alarm will go off for no reason. It has gotten to the point that it will go off several times a day. My solution? I pulled the horn relay - so lights flash but the horn is silent. Not the best solution but I fear the diagnostics bill the Acura dealer will send me.
So - two questions.
Anyone have the same experience and figured out a solution?
Perhaps more importantly, can anyone tell me how to disable the alarm but still allowing me to lock the doors?? That would be a perfectly reasonable solution to me and my 2001 MDX.
Thanks in advance!!! |

I had the same thing happen to our 2001 MDX earlier this year. I was just about to have it bypassed and an aftermarket unit intalled. The unit seemed to 'fix' itself. It just stoped going off unexpetedly. I have no expaination.
Do a search for "haywire" to see the thread
Good luck.

| I started having the same issue. Let me know if you find a remedy. My alarm has a mind of its own. It goes off in the middle of the night. Email me Jeffna77@aol.com |

The only thing that comes to mind is there is a short/loose wire somewhere or your battery may be going. |

I also suspect it's the battery.
My car is parked outside in the chilly NJ weather of late and now takes a few cranks to start (2001 with original battery). It has happened enough that I have been shopping around for a replacement battery.
My alarm just went off and I don't see anything like a tree sitting on it nor my doors pried open so I have a suspicion that the battery went borderline.
On that note, any recommendations for an aftermarket battery replacement? |

may sound a little different, but unplug your hood pin switch, should be easy to locate, and see what happens. if it stops happening, buy a new hood latch (if you are worried about you hood being pryed open).
this is usually the culprit, same issue on 1. 6 EL, and TL/CL |
