These pics are for anyone considering mesh wheels for their rig.. I spent quite a bit of time last yr seaching for pics of MDX's with meshies [I didn't find many]. I finally came across a good deal for these 18" Volks [I had also considered HP EVOs].. mounted them with new Hankook Ventus ST RH06s 255/55/18. Personally I love them & their look, tho I know they are not for everyone. Regardless some might want to see how they look for their own reference. I also considered 19" wheels, but decided I wanted the extra rubber for ride comfort & going off pavement.
I also have removed the factory pos rack, and had a Yakima track system installed.. The towers & bars are easily removable from their landing pads, and pad covers installed. I had a reputable dealer install and there have been no negative issues of any kind. Functional & then nine n clean looking when removed.

| Nice VOLKS on an MDX. Probably lighter than stock too. Looks AND performance. |

Banosser,
Thanks for posting pics. Nice wheels. I am also considering a similar setup. I am looking at 18" wheels also to maintain a level of comfort that might be lost on 19" wheels. Can you please post the width, offset and weight of your Volks?
Thanks,

Thanks for the info.
So how do find the ride compared to the stock 17"? Can the ride differrence be attributed to the lighter weight of the new wheels? Did you notice a drop in mpg after the upgrade? I imagine if the mpg did drop it is not significant since the wheels are much lighter than stock. I don't think your new wheel/tire combo exceeds the weight of the stock combo.

I notice only slightly increased road feedback from the thinner rubber.. Also cornering is bit more stable with the slightly wider track.
MPG... Actually, haven't noticed any significant change..
I plan on putting the stock 17s back on for winter, as I fish out of this rig & visit numerous ski hills.. It wouldn't be right, subjecting the Volks to those elements... |
