I didn't see it listed anywhere on here, but apparently there is a TSB for "contaminated differential fluid". My X was making a loud groaning noise during lower speed turns, I thought it may be the power steering system, but according to the dealership there is a TSB that covers draining and replacing the diff fluid. I pick the X up today, so I guess we will see if that is the fix.
This is my payback for writing in about my problem free experiences..... |

The TSB says to drain it, fill it, drive it around in a circle for a while, then repeat a couple more times. I suppose it's a "triple flush" for the rear diff.
If you've ever gone to a Jiffy Lube type place, this is the most likely cause of contamination. Most of those clowns working in the pit don't know that it takes VTM-4 fluid. They either fill it with ATF since it looks red, or if they're just topping off, they use 80w-90 gear oil...which is definitely going to cause a problem. |

Nope, the only place that has ever done fluid changes has been the dealership. I wouldn't think they would have a TSB if there wasn't some issue with fluid changes done by dealer service, not just from those taken to places with no knowledge of the system using incorrect product. I would think that would be on the owner or repair / oil chnge facility to correct. |

| Contamination can mean many things. Could be that some water got in there. Could be that maybe the fluid got a little burned. |
