Mongomeryville Acura here in Pennsylvania wouldn't take a $2500 deposit to hold their only AWP Touring NAV & RES for me until Friday. "It's too specific a vehicle", she tells me. WTF.
Sorry, I had to rant. At least I can use their fax / written quote as leverage.......... |

| hmm... yeah... this dealer sucks. have u tried talking to the general manager there? usually a word or handshake should be enough and did i hear they don't want your money to hold it?? or maybe it's because this friday is the end of month and end of quarter... so they're all nervous already. |

Wow, and they have 90 new MDX's on the lot, you think they'd commit to selling one, since you're only waiting less than a week. |

Thanks folks, I thought maybe it was just me.
My "local" dealer (Vinart/Lehigh Valley) wants me to pay an extra $200 because of "all the time they spent with me", not match the others price to earn a customer. If I buy at Monkeyville they (Vinart) STILL spent all that time with me and sell NOTHING to me. Whatever. |

I would possible look inward if you have two dealers who seem reluctant to deal with you. Maybe you are comming across as too demanding and they are concerned about future dealings.

| Why don't you take their quote and call Acura at Turnersville Auto Complex and see if they would beat it. I know it's an extra 1 hour drive but they have 2 according to their online inventory. |

The way I look at it - you're not there to make friends - you're there to buy a vehicle and shouldn't have to waste hours of your valuable time haggling and playing one dealer off another. If they don't want your business - f-'em and buy elsewhere. There is a dealer out there willing to sell you what you want at a mutually acceptable price. You just have to find the right one.
Precision in Lawrenceville is very good and Sussman in Maple Shade is close by too.
My wife stopped even stepping into a dealership with me over 8 years ago. |

I've gotten my vehicle serviced at the Acura dealer owned by the Piazza family in Main Line Philadelphia- on route 30- close to Villanova University. Real pros in the service dept. |

It's a buyers market and you need to take advantage of the circumstances when you can. End of month, end of 2nd qtr, high gas prices, redesign coming in 4 mos, large inventory on the lot - it don't get any better than this ! I've been on both extremes of this curve: I bought a '02 MDX when the dealers were commanding MSRP+, forced options and 3 month waiting lists, and a '05 when they were giving 1,500 marketing support (my '05 Nav/DVD cost less than my '02 non Nav/DVD !!!) You may not get the exact price you're looking for on Friday, but you will get a deal substantially below invoice and you can always demand free accessories or maintenance to round out the deal. Good Luck ! |

I'd look inward (nice way of putting it), you might be coming across as too much of jerk if they try to get rid of you like that. :)
It's a total buyer's market.
But dealer folks are sleazy and annoying, I don't care what brand it is. |

Wow, this is new one:
Dealer's have feelings and you hurt theirs!
Give me a break: No one is putting a gun to their heads to sell you a car.
If they feel your price is too low, then walk away.
Clearly this is a buyer's market: Take advantage of it when you can.
For instance I just replaced my 2003 Porsche Boxster with a 2006 BMW Z4 with more equipment than on my Boxster. I went from $589 a month on a 39 month lease on the Boxster to $462 a month on a 24 month lease on the Z4.
Reason: BMW is supporting the lease to move the Z4: Residual after 24 months is 72%, money factor is .0009 (2.1%) and there is a manufacturer support of $1800.
Trick was to find a color my wife wanted and to do it by this Friday as deal ends on 6/30.
I did and the dealer did not say "ouch" but Thank you!
Good Luck to you!

Thanks again folks.
I'm looking inward as I type this. Maybe I'll just bend over and offer to pay MSRP.
