I just upgraded to Touring wheels and Michelins on my Base MDX. I am keeping one wheel and tire for a full size spare, but will sell the other three at $125 each. Wheels are all in perfect condition, and tires have about 2500 miles. I have the packing materials from my new wheels saved for the purpose, so I am ready to ship.
Please respond to obeejr@hotmail.com.

obeejr,

Do you notice any difference between the base and touring wheel, beside the cosmetic design and different tire brand? I am looking for a full size touring spare but just wonder if the full size base would do.

Also do you plan to rotate your spare among the touring too or just keep the spare as spare.

Thanks :):):)

Base wheels and touring are both 235/65R17.
I don't plan to rotate full size spare. I would expect if you did the spare would look different, especially the tire rubber, after some time had passed.
A matching wheel and tire is still the best spare. However, for those who have the Touring wheels and tires, a Base spare is a lot better than the compact spare provided by Acura, and at $125 is about 1/3 the price of a new wheel nd tire, even at Tim's prices.
I keep worrying about damaging a tire while on a trip, especially at night or on the weekend. Without a full sized spare, I would probably be forced to buy any tire available that would fit, at any price, and then turn around and replace it with a new Michelin when I could find one.

Obeejr,

One more question: is the weight of the wheel the same between Base and Touring? This will help me making the decision. I also think it may help other making informed decision too.

Thanks in advance for the info.

Cheers :):):)

I didn't weigh the wheels and tires on a scale, but in comparing the two side by side, I can't imagine there is any significant weight difference. The tires are the same size and material, and so are the wheels.

Thanks to all who responded, it appears all three wheels are spoken for, with additional buyers in the wings if necessary.
I don't feel any difference in ride or handling between the Michelins and the Goodyears.

let me know, I'm interested too.
