I bought a new X a month or two back. Now I would llike to change the headlight bulbs. I went for the HIDs since my TL has them and I like those.
Which ones should I get and from where? Are they plug n Play?I also want to change the fogs and the highs too so the all match, which ones should i get? |

You'll get tons of info if you do a search on HIDs. Lots of positive feedback on XenonDepot, though there have been some recent negative ones. Stay away from VisionBulbs, is all I can say. I'm happy with my Polarions.
Before you do swap to HIDs, be aware that they are not street legal on the MDX.
As far as which ones to get - depends on how "cool" or how bright you want them. Most would get 4000 to 6000K, with the latter being perceived as more blue. The newer MDX has H11 bulbs for lows and 9005 for highs and fogs (somebody correct me if I'm wrong, since I have an older X). I did not do HIDs for lows and fogs, since I'm OK with the amount of light output, but I did install white bulbs for them to match the HIDs. |

| I have the 6000k kit from Manus and I'm very happy with them. IMO, they're all pretty much the same in terms of light output so I went with Manus who's kit was significantly cheaper in price. |

I got 5000K for the HIDS, and picked up highs and lows from Hoen when they had a promo for the set. I believe they were XenonMatch white bulbs. It's not an exact match but close enough - my HIDs are on the yellow/white side with purple tinge. |

| did you need any connectors? or did you just get the bulbs? |

| Well it's a little more complicated in my situation since I replaced the 01 headlight assemblies with 04s. The Polarion HIDs come as a kit with ballasts. |

No, the Hoens were direct replacements - no connectors needed for the highs and fogs. |

It's been mentioned before: There's a big distinction between High Intensity Discharge (HID) lighting systems and HID-like bulbs. BIG DIFFERENCE.
The HID systems require a special bulb that contains no filament (only high pressure gas), a ballast, and, usually, special wiring, fuses, and relays. If you're just replacing the bulb, it ain't HID! Don't be fooled.
A search might help. |
