what does the oil jet kit do ? - Click HERE for Original Thread

I believe it tries providing additional lubrication to the second gear, and since the second gear is right under the oil fill hole it does it by flowing oil right on top of it. (oil jet kit goes thru the oil fill cap). Is that a correct statement ?

Now does the oil jet kit supply oil(atf) continously to the 2nd gear or only when the transmission is in second gear ?

Early MDX transmissions were recalled because the second gear would overheat and fail. The fix (besides a complete redesign of the trans in 2003) was to shoot transmission fluid directly on the second gear via a tube (jet) attached to the oil fill plug. That oil flows anytime the transmission oil is pressurized, not just when 2nd gear is engaged.

Many comments here whether that fix actually corrected the basic problem of a poorly designed transmission.

I am not able to exactly understand the direction of flow of atf going into the oil jet kit.

looks like there is a "T" right after the oil jet kit pipe that is inserted in the fill bolt. One side of the "T" goes to somewhere on transmission case and the other side goes to the filter(?). So which side is the oil coming from ? and why such an arrangement ?

The correct term of art is "Rube Goldberg"!
