Hi all,

It's finally here!! Brought home my shiny new SS/Touring/Navi MDX last night after a long (5 month) wait. My first impression is that it was definitely worth the wait!.

I was very happy with the Dealership (Buerkle Acura in Brooklyn Park, MN, a 'burb of Minneapolis). Paid MSRP with no forced options. The salesman, Mark Schiller, was very nice to work with, always returned my calls and was quite informative. He spent almost 2 hours during the delivery of the vehicle, going over the operation of almost every little switch and button. I was also pleasantly surprised to find a bottle of wine and an Acura pen in the rear headrest compartment with a thank you note. I thought that was a nice touch. As far as accessories, I decided to have the Burlwood shifter knob installed. I had not initially opted for it, but after seeing it on another MDX waiting to be delivered, I decided "I gotta have it". I also had the Body side Moldings and the "Invisible Bra" installed by the dealer.

The MDX has lived up to my expectations thus far. The ride is awesome... 'nuf said. However, a couple of observations:
1. At about 80 mph, I thought that there was a slight, almost imperceptible shudder (may have been my imagination...I was *LOOKING* for any squeaks, thuds or rattles!!).
2. I was surprised (and somewhat disappointed) that the Navigation system database did not have the Mall of America (The largest Mall in the U.S. of A) listed. I had not taken any maps with me (didn't think they were necessary with the Navi system) so I had no idea how to get there. Fortunately, I had my Streetpilot III with me and it found the Mall of America and routed me to it. That being said, I still think the Navi system on the Acura is awesome with the large color screen and detailed maps.

Sorry about the length of this post... Now I must go and wash the bugs off my MDX (After the 240 mile drive from the Dealership, I think practically every bug in Minnesota is smeared across the front of my MDX :D :D :D )

Don,

Thanks for sharing your experience. We all too often just see the negative stuff. Nice to hear when a salesperson/dealership took very good care of you. Congrats on the your new baby, and surviving the 5 month wait. It's not quite as beautiful as the Nighthawk Black Pearl, but it'll do. :)

Congrats on your new baby (MDX)!
What kind of moldings were they? Color? etc. Give us the specs and costs.
We're hearing this and that on this board about different body molding add-ons. Please give the full details such that it may be a item Tim can stock for the rest of us that do not deal with your dealer who has obviously figured out an after market fix for one of the MDX big complaints.

Don, congratulations on your new MDX! Glad to hear your dealership was attentive and worthy of your business.

Rather surprising about the Mall of America missing from the navi! I wonder if someone who has the Alpine navigation system (which some have debated has more coverage) can check if they get Mall of America on their's?

The Body side moldings are color-matched with that of my MDX and look really good. The dealer charged me $199.00 installed. They look quite similar to the sportwing body moldings (there are pictures posted on this forum - do a search for "moldings"). I know I could have ordered them online for about $120 or less, but I didn't want to take the hassle of installing them myself. I think the dealer did a good job installing them.

Congratulations on your new MDX. I'm glad to hear your experience at the dealer was a good one. About the Navi, they are supposed to have an updated version soon (hopefully). We all know it's definately worth the wait after you get it. It's a fun vehicle.

Keep us posted on your experiences with it. Happy MDXing :)!!!!!!

Alright, another Buerkle customer! I bought mine there back in November, also SS/Tour/Navi - we Minnesotans have great taste, don't we? (Except maybe in elected officials...) I worked with Jeremy, a young guy there, they were just great, got the wine, the pen, the MDX. You'll find their shop is top notch also...

My wife also found it odd that they couldn't get the Mall of America on, although the parking lot there alone would require it's own DVD.

So what direction did you drive your 240 miles in? I'm up nort, doncha know?

Enjoy :D:D:D

Congratulations! Your post is a boost for people who are still waiting, like myself. It was disappointing though that Nav. system did not had Mall of America..... ?
