Just in case anyone around here is thinking of adding a TL to the family, they started a $1000 incentive on the cars yesterday until September 3rd.
Just information I thought you would all like to have. |

| According to some rumors I've seen on the net, 300, up from 258, due to new intake and exhaust. |

Please tell me that if HP increases by 15% or more (300+) that Honda is using a new and/or beefed up tranny. The current 5spd Auto is fragile enough as is, to bolt it to 300+ HP is just begging for trouble. Not only the fragile trannies, but it really should be rwd or awd bias to handle the 300+ HP - when will Honda learn . . . :3: |

I can believe it might have 300hp, but no way they generated 42hp from just a new intake and exhaust. |

Seem like the TL is going head on with the Lexus IS300. Since, last I heard the TL got its whooping. The two, TL and the IS300 are going head to head again. Who will be the winner... |

| The 300 hp may not be true, I have not seen that figure from anybody reputable yet. Maybe there's a turbo ? |

That's stretching it a bit. The latest IS350 is a direct competitor to the Bmw 330, and depending upon which Car Rag you read, comes close or surpasses the once invincible 3 series. The next gen Infiniti G may come close, but probably will fall short (as usual). Until the TL goes rwd or sh-awd, I don't care how much HP it pumps to the front wheels, it can't go head-head with the IS or 3 series, it'll always be the red-haired stepchild of the compact sports sedan world . . . |

Not until 2009.
I do think the TL will be SH-AWD. |

The 07 TL will have a minor face lift...nothing major added. Slight change to some knobs and things of the such.
I have heard NOTHING about SH-AWD being added to the TL. If it gets it, it probably will not be until the 09 comes out.
This horsepower thing you are talking about is somewhat true. I have not heard of the HP ratings, but what you are referring to is the Type S they will be adding once again to the lineup during "refresh" year like they always have done.
I also, at this point, would not worry about the tranny's....have not seen any consistant problems since the 04's came out. Appears as though the real problems have been limited to the previous model....of course, not a lot of TL's in this generation have made it into the "danger miles" yet either!!!!! |

| Actually the 6 speed manual has the design flaw this time. I have yet to replace an automatic on the new TL. |

There is no way the FWD TL can go head-to-head with anything RWD like the Lexus IS or the BMW 3 series. That is not even a valid comparison and it'd be like trying to compare the MDX which is car-based to a truck based SUV like the Toyota 4-Runner.
Try driving a FWD and a RWD car back to back on an auto cross course and see what I mean.
TL's competitors legitimately are:
1. Nissan Maxima
2. Toyota Avalon
3. Lexus ES300 (FWD based on Camry)
4. Lincoln LS
I think TL is a great car. I've driven it a couple of times as a loaner when my X is in dealer service. I don't however feel it is up to sporty manuevers as my Lexus IS300, and I feel people who are comparing the TL to the BMW are really missing the point of the car. TL is a soft entry luxury sedan with good acceleration, but it is not made for BMW like handling at high speeds.
