Instead of people having to wonder, perhaps this could be something that could be "stickied" at the top for quick reference.
Net Cost on Premium-30465.64
Net Cost on Touring-32923.54
Net Cost Touring with DVD-35472.11
Net Cost Touring w/ Nav-35316.18
Net Cost Touring w/ NAv/DVD-36621.25
Now you can easily reference your starting points if you want to work your deal from cost up.
These costs are valid until the 2500 incentive expires on the 31st of July. If it gets extended, I will post the new dates as soon as we get them |

This is net cost before any incentives? |

| No....those are net costs including incentives AND Holdback. that is the true line that we figure our "vehicle cost" from. |

Then the period it is valid for should be stated (until the incentives expire) so it is absolutely clear, especially if it gets stickied. |

| I got my 06 mdx w/Touring/NAV/RES below $500 from invoice price last February07. But, I got my all my accessories included with final negotiated price except the fake HID look for a 60mths 4.9% financing. I was being jiff off by the finance dept, found something fishy by double sales tax. Got my eyes fix like a hawk. At the end, they told me they lost $$$ because of the accessories, but they say I was a nice person.:D |

Typically what would be a good price (percentage over these prices) for an MDX knowing the cost is
Net Cost Touring w/ NAv/DVD-36621.25
Yesturday, I was quoted $38000 for this car. |

There are a lot of factors - how many MDX's on your dealers lot, how many NAV+DVDs, where the dealer stands on his monthly quota, etc. Did you obtain several quotes from different dealers? The best price for you to pay is $36621.25. How close you get depends on how well you deal and what the rock bottom price for your area is. The only way you can find out is too start getting multiple quotes and playing the dealers off each other. |

Just curious where was the dealership that sent you the email quote located? |
|
|
| Loose Cannon |
| 36999 is about right after you add in destination and take an ugly color off their hands. |
|
|
| SDTS |
Don't you dare let them add in destination. Again...this is illegal. They are not allowed to add destination as a fee nor portray it as one to the customer. It is a part of our costs and our decision to sell our cars + fees DO NOT INCLUDE ADDING DESTINATION. It is an EXTREMELY old trick to get mor eoney out of you.
Color may be another thing.......that would be up to the dealer and they certainly have that right, but they still need to sell these and 36999 + Fees, depending on your area, is a "REAL" price. |
|

The dealer is located in sw suburb of chicago. |
|
|
| Loose Cannon |
| Just curious (and not trying to pick a fight) but can you cite any specific law that addresses this issue? |
|
|
| SDTS |
each state would place it differently, but "Fees" in the state of California are Tax/Title/Tire Recycle Fee/Doc Fee. So, when dealer makes a price quote, that dealer has to specify 36,000 + Destination + Fees if they are going to add the destination to your selling price. IF they are quoting 36,000 + Fees, then they are not allowed to add the destination into the price, as the state does not collect this fee...the manufacturer collects this fee from the dealer once the car is sold for getting the vehicle to the dealer itself.
Think of it this way.....if there was an ad in the paper for a vehicle, and you would all be amzed at all the laws that are around for advertising, anyways....in the disclosure section, you have to have the "fees" disclosed...and nowhere will you ever see "destination".
I will check tomorrow at work to see what the law actually states in California pertaining to this fee. It could be more to the idea of quoting a price + fees and trying to say that destination is a "fee".
Anyways...I will find out the exact law tomorrow!!!!! For California. They do differ in every state. Example----We are not allowed to charge a doc fee over $45.00 which is state mandated. Other states can put whatever fee they want to put in for a "doc fee" and they do, as others on this board have pointed out in their own experiences. |
|
|
| SDTS |
Actually..I found it!!!!
"Chrges for delivery and preparation over and above delivery and preparation fees for which the dealer is reimbursed must beincluded in the total price of the vehicle. they cannot be advertised separately and shown in the separate reference to taxes, registration, etc. And although Regulation 262.03 requires a dealer to separately itemize such fees to the buyer, the Automobile Sales Finance Act found in Civil Code &&2981, and following, does not allow for separate itemization of such charges on the conditional sales contract. They must be included in the cash price of the vehicle, just as they must be included in the total advertised price of the vehicle. Because of California's single document rule in California Civil Code &2981.9 legal counsel should be consulted if separate charges are being made for delivery and preparation."
That is the "discussion" section of the "California Auto Dealer Advertising LAw" book thAT pertains to Regulation 262.03-Dealer Added Charges. I thought that it was the easiest read that went straight for what we are talking about with the delivery/destination charges. Within the law itself, it explains that the only fees allowed to be charged are taxes, vehicle registartion fees, the Calif tire fee, emmission testing fees not exsceeding $50 (used), finance charges and doc fee, not to exceed $45.00.
If you want more, I can dig..I actually kind of enjoy it!! :D |

How many dealers you have in your area will impact how low they are willing to go significantly.

Having paid $35.5k before ttl, you're telling me that Net Cost Touring w/ Nav-35316.18? Damn, that's barely over $100 to the dealer after you factor in the cost for the full tank of gas.
Gotta love this deal!:D |
|
|
| SDTS |
don't for get about commission/flooring/advertising....gas we get money from the factory to pay for it...not enough to fill it up but we get money...but yes....that deal, at that price, is a true "loss" to the dealer when they do it. It is done in hopes that you will service your car there and they get an extra 07 MDX!!!
They really are amazing deals right now. If there was ever a time to buy an MDX, this is definitely it right now! |
|
|
| unrealii |
| Is that how it works? The dealers with the least 06's get more 07's? If that's the case, I'm sure they'll make up for it as 07's will probably go for more than sticker for a bit. |
|
|
| SDTS |
That's sort of how it works. They base your allocation of 07 MDX's off of the number of 06 models that you sell. Mindset being that they want to get as many 07's on the lots that do well with MDX's than on the lots that traditionally sell then well.
And yes...we expect MSRP for a whgile, so we want as many as possible in the early running to make up for selling cars to all you interent folk!!!! :D |

I just wanted to bump this and get a feel for what folks are being quoted or are actually able to close the deals for. I am looking for an 06 Touring NAV/RES and have gotten 2 of 3 quotes back as follows:
$38,300
$37,942
Looking at other threads it seems like folks are able to do better that this.
 |
|
|
| socalJD |
Your 2nd quote is pretty close - it's invoice less the 2,500 incentive.
Holdback is apprx 1,300 - if you can get half of this, pull the trigger.
So I figure your magic # is apprx $37,350 . . . Good luck |

Around Northern California, I can tell you to move quickly if you want a DVD/NAV......they are almost all gone and gettingvery hard to find.
As well as Touring and Premium Models. Nov only are theones that still have some availability left, but they are starting to dwindle quickly as well.
not sure about other states. Perhaps someone that has been looking can enlighten on supply in other regions. |

I am interested in purchasing an '07 and can wait a couple months or more for a great buy. Hopefully the initial demand will wane and dealers will start slashing prices before Christmas....
If anyone knows of a an aggressive priced dealership within eight hour drive of Niagara Falls New York, please let me know.

Any dealer in the Seattle area with new 06' touring + navi and maybe DVD for sale? I went to Acura of Bellevue last week and was quoated about $38,000 via the Costco auto buying program for a pearl white touring + navi.
I know this is not the best price I can get. Anyone in this area can tell me which dealer and what price they bought their MDX? Much appreciated!! |

How accurate are these numbers in about 3 weeks or so?
Are there any fees that i would have to pay for a lease?
I am looking to buy asap but have to let some investments clear before doing so.

Right now they are accurate for the 2006s through 10/31 unless Acura extends the $2500 incentive after that. |

Not really unless they are selling out of that config in your area. Dealer cost is $36,621 w/dest. Invoice minus the $2500 incentive is $37,997 w/dest. I wouldn't pay any more than $37,997 and would bargain down towards the $36,621 as much as possible. |

There are many factors other than just how much the dealer can sell you the car for. If you don't mind what trim or color you want, you probably can get a really good deal. You can shop around and there will always be a salesman desperate enough to try to make an end of the month sale.
However, if you have something very specific in mind, such as a navi trim with aspen white pearl in my case, you might not get the best deal.
I Just bought my 06' navi with Aspen White Pearl 2 days ago for around $38000. I know it's not the best deal. However, that was the only new white navi left in the entire Washington state. I could pay $1000 less for a black or sage brush one. However, I won't be too happy about it. And what's $1000 in a $40000 purchase anyway?
Don't lose the big picture. You wouldn't walk away from a million dollar house deal just because the seller refused to send you a basket of muffins, would you? |
|
|
| DieselDan |
| I hear on getting what you want but i am pretty easy, I am looking for the basic silver/black with navi. I have called all my area dealer's and they are fouming at the mouth to sell me a truck. They have 3 of them so I am basically saying what i want to pay and if they do not match it, off to the next dealer. |

the best quotes i've seen today are 35,500 and 35,300, so i'd

Dealer cost is $34,816, so $35,300 is a very good price. I doubt you will get a tow package thrown in. $350 is a very low price for a full installed tow package. Was the quoted price of the vehicle a lot higher to make up for it? Did it include all coolers, plus hitch, and installation? I believe people were reporting the average tow package was going for around $1000 - $1100 installed seperately. |

Dealer cost on a trg is $32,424. You are saying that you were quoted $33,541 ($34,490 - $949), so that's a dealer profit of about $1,100, which is not a bad deal at all. There is still a little room to negotiate if the dealer still has quite a few of that model/color/etc on the lot. |

Can you tell me (either here or PM me) the name of the dealer in GA. I need a towing pkg and that's a better price than I've gotten here. You're getting into his holdbacks now and I'm ready to buy. You could always take the towing pkg off (leave the coolers) and ebay it or I might buy it. Tks |

Branco in Atlanta off of I-75 has now given me a price to buy of $33947 with the towing package. They offered a 36 month lease at $590 a month that includes GA taxes...with no money down.
The salesman yesterday called me and told me thta Acura had now upped the dealer cash back by an addional $500 on 1 Nov 06.
I can lease a fully equipped 4 Runner for $400 for 39 months with 45K miles for the 39 months. Can buy a fully equipped $ Runner for $33000. These 4 Runners are SR5 with 4WD.
Hope this helps. I have the Atlanta dealer's number at work if you want it just send me a note on this forum and I will see it when I get to work. It is a toll free number.
I'm not sure if all of this is good or not....but it seems good. Just not sure whether to buy or lease. What is your opinionon leasing versus buying?

Tks for the info. I'll call. Still looking. Today I drove the MB R Class w/turbo diesel and I must say, it's impressive..... and there are deals on '06's there too. They have 5K off on their '06 ML's and 7K off on R's too.
Leasing is normally done by businesses (who run up a lot of miles) for tax reasons and ownership is not important to them. If lower payments are more important and ownership doesn't matter....lease. Simply put, you can drive more car for less money and you have the advantage of changing cars/models more frequently. |
