G. Colton is too old to understand the need to beef up a vehicle. To each his own.
Anyway.........Problems? Not really...........
..........just slightly degraded ride, slightly less acceleration, and slightly less braking power. But if looks count more than those mentioned items................go for it. |

This was the first question I asked the group a year ago when I joined. Not much perspective and little feedback from this worldwide group.
I bought a warranty from a North Scottsdale, AZ dealership after I bought my private sale '04 touring, and was walking around the sales floor and saw a "Dealer Modified 06". It had "20's and P255's and looked straight. (Go to the Gallery and see what I did).
The stock MDX was pretty much permanently designed for the 17" wheels it came with, as I found out when my mechanic tried to adjust camber. The camber nuts are permanent on the rear, and need a special adapter to do drastic degree changes.
Question is, "What are you trying to accomplish"? I'm sick of seeing Tahoe's and Blazers that look like they just drove out of a Discount Tire shop with blinding "Bling, Bling" rims that have more chome, studs and spokes than necessary. They are trying to overcompensate for having a Detroit cookie cutter gas hog and make their truck look different. Problem is,...they all are doing it! So there's no difference.
Wheel sizes are interesting. If you go up to an 18" take the profile down to 55. The wheel remains the same diameter. Go up to a 19" with a 45 profile..same thing. 20", 35 profile..same size diameter..stack all the wheels on top of each other...same size.
Trade off?..... The smaller your sidewall gets, the more bumpy the ride gets. Change your shocks and they deal with it, bumpy ride wears out the gas in good shocks. You will feel it, in fact, if you went to a 15" rim and a 75 profile..you would think you were in a Cadillac.
