Hiya gang.. Just made my 100th post.. Yeha!

Question..

The Moonroof Visor.. can anyone give me pros and cons on it? Also, if anyone has a pic of it on a SS MDX, I'd appreciate that posted..

I am thinking about it getting it when my baby arrives for 1) the looks, 2) does it really protect well from the sun?

Thanks

Gene

Pros:
1. looks cool
2. reduces wind noise slightly
Cons:
1.reduces the amount of light that enters vehicle
2.reduces the amount of air that enters vehicle (I like to open moonroof and cruise in the highway with the windows closed);)

Ill try to post a pic of my SS

Some pics. They are not close up, but at least you can get the idea. In all, I would recommend getting them.:)

I have a SS with Visor and I would agree pretty much with rim32's description of pros and cons.
Besides the one view I am attaching, if you want to see the visor at different angles you might try my MDX western trip web site since it has about 130 pictures of RoadRunner with visor http://www.musc.edu/cando/mdx/west/

Thanks RoadRunner! RLM32, dod you forget to attach the pics? :)

I agree w/ rlm32 on the pros/cons. It definitly adds to the vehicles overall appearance. I did have a problem w/ the rubber seal and the Acura dealer replaced the entire visor.

RLM32,

Thanks man! I can't thank you enough for the hard work with the pics.. Thanks for taking your time.. But I am sure you enjoyed posting these!! My mouth is watering at the look of that!:)

Once I get my MDX, I'll probably post 50 pics on the first day! :)

Thank you!

I’ve had visor’s on my last two Acura’s and now consider them a necessity not an accessory!

But I have a different take on the pro/con. I like the fact that it blocks some of the sun coming in. You can get the air w/o the sun in your eyes. It also blocks the rain (if you’re traveling at high speeds as on a highway) - light rain, mind you.

A little trick I discovered…open the moon roof just even w/the length of the visor and crack open a rear window no more than 2-4 inches. This produces a wind tunnel kind of affect w/allows you wonderful air movement throughout the car w/o the window’s open and less need for A/C on those not hot/cool days… At least this worked in my car. I've not had the visor installed yet but plan to.

Get it, you’ll love it!

Here are some other comments about the visor to consider.

No problem, Gene. I enjoy posting pics of my ride, whenever I get time. BTW, let me reassure you, its worth the wait.

I have to disagree that the moonroof visor reduces windnoise. On the contrary, I found that after taking mine off, windnoise got less.

I don't have the visor yet myself, but from my experience in riding in an mdx with one, the main problem i see with them is that it makes an alread tiny sunroof seem even smaller. Otherwise, it looks great and does help with wind noise and light rain.

I agree with SweetRide. Totally a neccessity. I see no Cons. I had one on my last two Accords. Love 'em!

Didnt think such a question would get 30 replies in 1 day! :)

Thanks again gang..

P.S. And yes, I will be getting it!

CON: Someone earlier mentioned they were taking theirs off because the rubber gasket was wearing into the paint. Mine only has about 500 miles on it so it is probably too early to tell.

Anyone else experience this?

Ive only heard one such post. The only way I see that happening is if the visor was loose so debris can get in between the rubber and paint and it could move back and forth causing a scrubbing/sanding effect. When I try to move mine, it doesnt move at all.
New MDXer
No paint rubbing problem, but the rubber gasket split on both corners. Where the drainage slits are.

The visor was replaced by my dealer. He said I was the first to have this problem.
