After 5+ months, our Black/Ebony base MDX arrived this weekend. I had gotten in writing the expected purchase price (MSRP with no options) and not only was I pleasantly surprised to seal the deal without question, but I was offered a 7 year/100,000 extended warranty for $875.00. I wasn't planning on plunking down the kind of cash for one that I've seen other people paying, but I'm glad that I had looked into it so I could make an informed decision. I had just negotiated my auto loan down by half a point, so I've been feeling pretty good about the financial side of this purchase given the horror stories I've read from other parts of the country. BTW, I'm in San Diego, and have no problems recommending Cush in Escondido. I think the key is: INFORMATION + PATIENCE = SUCCESS.

Congrats erikp!

The extended warranty price seems very good compared to other quotes that I have seen in this forum. Congrats again.

Congrats on your new MDX and to the dark side of the color spectrum. Heck of a price on the warranty but was it with Honda or a third party provider?

Cush Esc. was the first place I went last November. Talked to the fleet guy (can't recall name) and they were offering running boards, pinstriping and wheel locks (I think)...FORCED options. As I recall...they were trying to bump the profit to an even 5G or maybe it was 4G..but whatever it was...this was the game plan.
I walked away from the deal and did business with SD Cush. No forced accessories over there and I was kind of amazed that Cush ESC used Forced Options tactics as they both had CUSH in common. I later learned that those decisions are made by the General Manager of each dealership... I guess Esc decided it wasn't a wise move.

Anyway...Got the run around at SD...and waited through a myriad of excuses and blunders...but finally got it without options.

Wonder if I could buy that extended warranty for the same price? Hmmmmm.....

Meanwhile, I see a ton of dealer tags from Calabassas!

Get a sticker! :D

The extended service contract is through First Extended. According to them, they do all their warranties through them.

Plus, I'm sure you can get good or bad deals from any dealer, depending on the salesperson, time of year, how you contacted them, or maybe you have a brand new baby to charm them with.
My secret weapon: http://home.san.rr.com/erikp/main.html

The key is to know what you want, call and get an agreement before stepping into the dealership, and then get it in writing.
