I paid for my 2005 black MDX touring with Nav & RES $40,200 last year. I could get the 2006 model with same feature for less than 38K.
What do you think? Should I trade in my 2005 and get the 2006 model? If yes, how much you're willing to pay as a difference for the trade in? My 2005 MDX has 15,900 miles on.
Your input please. Thanks.:) |

That is purely a personal decision.

Yes you can get the $38.000 for the 06 but the trade in will be low in the same proportion. I'm you'll lose the same amount of money.
This kind of common sense is the one I play to my wife so she approves me to do the deal.
I think is not.:14: |

Well, YEAH. At the end of the day, it's personal decision. That does not mean to stop looking for advice and keep learning.
All what I'm asking is "what would you do? Is it worth to upgrade?
The dealer who sold me my MDX called me and left me a message, should I consider? |

There are no differences in the 05 to the 06 other than a tire pressure monitoring system....and I actually think that was even there in 05..can't remember off the top of my head, so if you are going to take a hit...hard hit..in your resale value on the 05, just to buy the 06 with the exact same features, makes no financial sense to me at all....unless you can't stand the color or something and want to change, I just can't find a logical reason to upgrade to an 06.
Just my opinion. :D |

| My initial reaction is NO - unless like SDTS said, there is some unresolved buyer's remorse from the '05. You already have the top model, Touring-Navi-RES, so unless you don't like the ext/int color it doesn't make logical sense. Now for financial analysis, go get your '05 appraised. Don't rely on KBB or Edmunds, because they are slow to adjust to situations like this where the '06 is heavily discounted to clear out for the '07 redesign. CarMax will give you a free no obligation appraisal, and you will get an idea of how much of a hit you'll take on the trade. Sales tax is another consideration, how much is it in NJ and do you get credit on a trade ? When is your registeration due, or did you just pay it ? IMHO the more I think about it, the more I think you are better off staying pat . . . |

| you are looking at at least $5k out of your pocket to do the swap. Is it really worth it for pretty much the the same car? I wouldn't do it. |

Without knowing what it will cost, there can be no meaningful discussion.

| I think the real case out of pocket will be more like 6k + taxes + etc. |

| I also was given an opportunity to trade-in an '05 Navi with 19K for an '06 Navi/RES. The difference in price was close to 7K + taxes/fees. Not worth it IMHO. |
