My '03 MDX has about 73K miles on it. The past couple weeks or so the CEL and VTM-4 lights would randomly come on and off. They come on right after starting the car, stays on for 1 or 2 days, and go off. The car starts fine and runs fine.
Yesterday, I decided to hook up my reliable OBDII ScanTool to check the codes and do some monitoring. The only code I saw was P1078. I check my references and came up with:
==
P1078 Intake Mainfold Runner Control (IMRC) System Malfunction (High rpm)
==
At this point I'm guessing it's a misfire. If anyone has other thoughts, I would love to hear them! |

I apologize for reviving an old thread, but I have the same code.
P1078, along with a Check Engine Light, and VTM-4 light. I would like to know if anyone else has encountered this situation and what was done to correct it.
I am not experiencing a loss in power, and performance seem to be the same.
Any information would be helpful. |

Just to close a chapter to my slight dilema...
I was able get an induction service performed on the MDX, and my check engine and VTM-4 light are off. The technician noticed a lot of carbon buildup. He expressed the "a lot" and showed me the carbon build up.
After the service, the code was no longer present on the HDS after idling for 10 minutes, and a 15 minute test drive. |
