Hi all,

Today, my wife's mdx decided to light up the MIL/check engine light. I'm at work right now, but figure I post to save myself some time. Is the location of the service port similar to other Honda vehicles, where it is located near the passenger footwell? Also, are the fault codes located anywhere online, if so can you send me the link? If not, does someone have the service manual and is kind enough to look up the code for me when I retrieve it? I've been lazy in buying the manual since we haven't decided if we're keeping the vehicle after the lease is up or not. Thanks in advance!

the port is on the drivers side, under the dash.

chances are it either needs an EGR valve, EGR port cleaning, or both.

Thanks, but it seems to drive and idle fine, so hoping it was triggered by the fuel cap or something harmless like that.

most customers dont experience any drivability problems when the EGR ports clog

With Hondas/Acuras it is very common to find out you have an EGR valve problem only after bringing it to the dealer for symptoms of tranny problems. A lot of the time the EGR valve will not have even triggered a code and the tech will have to use the SB diagnostic procedure.

But with no driveability problems, There is a good chance it is something minor like the fuel cap.

Yup, it was most likely something minor like a fuel cap issue. We took a semi-long trip and noticed everything was normal and fuel mileage was about the same. During the trek back after a refill, the MIL went away. I still need to pick up a OBDII reader to be sure. I was in OBDI mode when I posted since my old '94 Integra had a code I needed to retrieve recently as well, but I have the service manual for that car. =) Thanks again to all!
