For those who are interested, here is the link to the letter I wrote Acura's CEO that made my phone ring. I deleted the letter at planetfeedback but it is still displayed at this time. NOTE - that the letter includes my VIN # on it and there is nothing I can do about not making that public record at this time. This letter was written in pursuit of getting the attention of Acura Corporate.

| I too had oil leak at 3000 miles with the oil pan wet with oil and some oil dripping on my sqeaky clean garage floor. The Acura dealer in town changed the oil pan gasket and all's been well since then. To boot, they gave me a brand new 240 HP, 2-door Acura loaner for the day. And the dealer did not dirty my car. May be I lucked out with my local dealer from whom I bought my truck. |
|
|
| BellTeck |
pjsingh,
I remember asking you to post your outcome and I never heard back. Glad yours turned out to be just that , they tried that on mine but it did not work - they said it was a bad cast from the factory and if they Repaired it they would have to use a lot of gasket glue so you better keep that in mind that it could cause future damage to yours - after that they proceeded to destroy the truck and here I am waiting for my MDX II.

BellTeck,
I am pleased for you especially and the rest of us to hear that Acura will stand behind its products. I truly believe your letter to the CEO is what turned the corner for you as opposed to any anything that might have come from your lawyer. CEOs and their minions are human and your tale of woe clearly indicates that Acura and its dealers and not you are at fault that only the most callous individual could not help but understand. That coupled with lemon laws in virtually all states gives the consumer more power than we often realize. Most times one catches more flies with honey than vinegar, in your case maybe we will call it molasses because it took so long. Some may disagree but, I believe you got resolution faster by not having a lawyer involved. By the way both my parents were lawyers along with my paternal grandfather and great grandfather, so I do not have anything against lawyers just litigation. Again, I couldn't be happer that you will once again be a blissful MDXer in the not so far away future.
Now that you have sweated the really big stuff, you are entitled to whine a little about some of the piddly things we read so much about in this forum but not too much or people may think you're from Brooklyn;) ;) |

Thanks Remery,
I was hoping that if I held a mirror up to Acura that they would see for themselves what was happening .. I have to admit I was getting tired of holding it up too !!
That letter was the result of when I was at my lowest point and felt I had done everything I could do. I had no choice but to lay it on the line and hope that they would do the right thing.
Thanks to Marne, I will be able to "Wine" a little bit LOL!!
Out of all that had happened, I hope this thread can help someone else out if they ever get put in a situation where they need some advise or help.

Not that this matters but I called Acura today and told them if the events in the past couple of days postpones my delivery that I am ok driving the rental for a while but I also asked them to send me something in writing stating that I will indeed get a new one as im going off a phonecall I got over a week ago.

Finally got a call back from ACURA..
They gave me some info on my X.. here is what I know so far.
1) I am getting a 02
1st pref - White/Tan int w/Nav
2nd pref - GG/Char int w/Nav
2) They will transfer VIN# on my loan
3) There will be NO compensation for hardship
4) I will have to wait 60 to 90 days
5) I will only have to pay for 3500 miles on my orig X plus the cost of the NAV ( miles = about 1K )
6) I may have to drive my orig X until the new one comes in without being charged for additional miles-they will let me know
thats all I can think of right now .. more later

BellTech,
Sounds like a pretty good deal to me all things considered. You're getting a 2002 which just might be thudless and weepless. You are possibly getting a color not available currently and 3,500 miles at 10 cents or so per mile is less than first year depreciation. Also, you might ask them if you can add the cost of the Navi to the loan since they are already transferring the VIN#. |
|
|
| BellTeck |
Thats pretty much my feelings remery.. and for the extra, I will just write a check to cover that instead of adding it on to the loan. The other nice thing is I will have a brand new X and almost have a year of payments made:cool:
ALSO - Right from Corporate - The Factory is making 2002's NOW

| tdnone |
Hi Teck, Congratulations.
Seems like a fair deal for you. A brand new 02 MDX, with Navi (even though you have to pay for it - I think you will enjoy it), a year less in payments (your view from cash flow standpoint), a newer year model (higher residual value), less a charge for 1K for useage (first 3.5 K miles). If you prefer White, then that is another bonus (new color).
Go with it. :D |

I feel after everything that I will just be glad not to have to worry about any of it. Yep..have been paying for it the whole time now. Its like paying for a REAL expensive rental car. But like I said the good thing is I will have a year paid off and a brand new truck with no miles on it. Its like putting an extra lump of cash down on it and one less year to pay on it.

I just got the original MDX back today to drive until the new one arrives and I get 3 blocks from the dealer and it does the same thing. I get to my office and called Rick Case and im still waiting for a call back and for some reason they wont have the local parts and service rep call me back and ive been asking for a call since june 23rd. Im getting a tad restless again :(

| BellTeck |
LOL GHM....
So this time I was not as nice. The dealer pretty much turned thier back on me and I called Rick Case himself ( only got to the secretary ) and explained my position and what happened and the fact that they said they would call me back in 1/2 hour and over an hour later there I was. - No call back
I called my rep back again and he gave me the service manager's cell phone # - Called it 10 times - no answer. He called me back and I layed into him. He said he would call the local parts guy and then get in touch with me.
I called Corporate and spoke to one of the people and left 2 very strongly worded messages for thier supervisor. I told this lady that I have wanted a call back from this Local Parts guy since JUNE 23rd and here it is September 19th and NO CALL. I told this lady I got in touch with the CEO of HONDA but this guy will not call me back? Whats the problem here?
20 Minutes later I get a call from the Local Parts guy and I told him that I want something in writing that says I can drive this truck in this condition without being responsible. ( Of course they would not do that ) He said well maybe the problem I am talking about is different from what they thought it was. I told himn that my service rep knows exactly what it does and he even explained it to me what it was doing.
Anyway to make this short I have to take the truck back tomorrow and pick up a loaner and go back the next day to take a test drive with the entire dealership in the truck. I said fine .. whatever, I just dont want to be responsible if this thing breaks down and this is YOUR truck we are dealing with now, not mine.
So working for the local phone co here I did get this local parts guy's number ( *69 DUH! ) and will have no problem calling him direct with any further problems. I told this guy I was able to communicate with his CEO but not him and that I would want his job as to not have to listen to upset customers. ( no response )
Its things like this that make Acura a poor service company. Makes me crazy when a company just turns thier back like they have better things to do. I told the corporate lady im running out of dealers in the south florida area and can they recommend someone that can repair thier own products.
Of course with each experience comes the learning of who to call and what to say. I can not say I know the whole company but I sure have a lot of contacts past the normal customer service channels. I also think Acura screwed with me on the wrong day.
TECK!
Almost forgot - The local parts guy told me that my salesman and my service rep at Esserman Acura both quit. I told the guy I dont blame them as its an unethical dealership. |

Boy I'll say it is ..
X is back at the dealer and im in a nice 2000 TL loaner .. by far the nicest loaner I have had so far. Not sure how long it will take them to get the bug out of the other one but I guess overall I have nothing but time ( 60/90 days ) until X2 comes in.

I just got an email from our fellow X'er RODZIR and he told me about an oil leak he noticed on his X with 2K on it. I told him to get to the dealer ASAP and either demand a new one or only have them try the oil pump cover.
My next door neighbor told me about a woman at his office with an X that also has the same problem ( oil leak ). She is just underway with the process I guess.
I cant say I am happy that there are others with this terrible problem but its nice not to be alone in the whole ordeal. So to anyone with this issue, let me know if I can help in any way.
I also want to add that I heard from Marne .. he is in France safe and sound and enjoying his vacation

TL update ..
Wow this TL is the nicest sedan I have drove next to a caddi sts I had for a rental once. Very smooth, Very comfortable, Bose system sounds great, and it looks cool too. Its a dealer loaner and im sure people abuse it but its still nice. When I first picked it up the tires kept screetching when I took off and I was not going that fast so I pulled into a gas station and checked the air in the tires ... they were all around 19 psi .. geez no wonder. After that the ride was even better .. and more stable. I give Acura a thumbs up for this car .. very nice.
I wish they would have put the same seats in the X as the TL .. extremely comfortable!!!
TECK! |
|
|
| Robyjo |
TECK!
I couldn't agree with you more--the TL seats are as comfy as top-end luxury cars. I have not had the privilege to enjoy MDX seats for any extended period of time, but I hope they at least come close (tough I've heard otherwise from GTO-Dave and the likes...)
BTW Teck, I haven't had the chance to congratulate you on the triumph with the deal Acura cut you--so congrats! :D
Of course, now I'm nervous to get my '01 considering all these people you know that have experienced the oil leak...
Rob:cool: |
|
|
| BellTeck |
Robyjo,
Its not that the X seats are not nice but there is a big difference in the TL seat .. much more comfortable. I guess Acura figured ..hey.. its a truck not a sedan.
Thanks Robyjo .. you can bet that I will be inspecting and reporting the updates on the 02 when it arrives.
I would hope that Acura's quality control is aware of the oil leak issue and that they know how much this will cost the company in service and in some cases depending on the severity .. a new automobile. I have to admit I am getting excited about having an X again and not only that but having an X without any problems is even more exciting. Thudless, weepless, white, with on star and nav is even more of a perk !!! :D

CUSTOMER SATISFACTION
While selling a large number of automobiles for the luxury import category, Acura has
consistently performed extremely well in one of the most important measures of success:
making the ownership experience as satisfying as possible.
This year, Acura ranked third in the J.D. Power and Associates(R) 2001 Initial Quality
Study, a highly regarded barometer of customer opinion. Consumers rated two Acura
models among their highest in initial quality. In that study, the 3.2 TL was ranked second
in the Entry Luxury category while the Integra was rated Best Sporty Car.
Acura has ranked number one in the annual J.D. Power and Associates Customer
Satisfaction Study(SM) (CSI) survey four times and continues to score well above the
industry average year after year. |

Im Back in X-1 today .. dealer said they did not find a problem. I just asked them that they tell me this vehicle is safe to drive on the road per the service department and that I would drive it until my X-2 comes in. They said that its ok to drive and that the local service and parts guy wants to have a meeting with me still on Thursday morning at 9am. ( about what I dont know )
I still have nothing in writing saying that they are buying this truck back but I have enough people that have told me that they are replacing it that I could drag into court and put on the stand. Its not a good feeling going on verbal agreements only.

I just got off the phone with the BBB rep. He asked me if Acura got back with me yet and I told him yes, but I still dont have anything in writing. He asked what the new SUV will be and I told him what Acura told me 1st choice ( white 02 / nav )2nd choice ( GG 02/ nav ) . He told me that Acura has not contacted him and that they usually do by this time. He told me he will contact Acura again for a settlement and then get back with me.
They better not screw with me anymore .. I dont think I would be as easy going and understanding this time. Will update the results of my meeting tomorrow. What a pain in the ____.

meeting update -
I met the local parts and service guy and the service manager at rick case this morning. We took a ride in the X and I tried to explain to them what the problem was ( when shifting into 5th gear the truck shakes ) after they did all the work to it. The local parts and service guy drove it first and then I drove it .. we may have gone 5 miles tops but I told them that 1) it does not happend all the time and 2) with the traffic it was hard to get up to speed to where it would do it.
Prior to getting in the truck I asked the service manager if he drove my truck and he said yes he did. I asked him where he took it off road and he said he did not. I told him someone took it off road because the entire underside was white from gravel and filled with sand and rock. I told him I did not mind because it was thier truck BUT the side steps were mine that took most of the damage and I would appreciate a new set for the new truck when it came in .. I got a quick nod and it was dropped. ( thanks rick case for stepping up )
After the ride we had a quick chat in the parking lot and they asked me if I chose the same color .. I told them no and that my 1st choice was Taffea White and 2nd the GG. They told me that they are not aware of the white this year and I told them that Acura has already released this information along with the upgrades the 02 X will have ( mirrors, winshield, noise reduction etc ) They had not heard of any of this at all and questioned what the website was that posted this information. I told them point blank that it was a honda motors press release and gave them the hondanews.com site to look at.
( Is it me or should the dealers and local parts and service guy's know more than me about this? )
Anyway, the guy asked me to drive the truck for a couple days in 4th gear and see if the problem goes away ( so they can fix it when I get my new one ) I told them no problem and that I had a couple trips planned - one in October and one in November. He said thats all ok unless I plan on driving to Alaska. ( Nope )
The guy told me he was working with corporate to get my new truck and he said the only problem is the timeframe ( and he looked at me funny ) I said to be honest, I dont expect it until December and he said good because he was going to say late November.
So that was my exciting day
Now I get to drive Acura's newest loaner car for a month or two until I get my new truck I bought back in march of 2001
Does this qualify me for the longest wait .. 8 months? or am I disqualified because of the 3500 miles I drove the first one ?
( By the way I added up the miles and its now even - I drove the truck 3500 miles and the dealer drove it 3500 miles trying to figure out the problem(s) )
I know this is getting old to everyone but I have documented almost everything that happened on this thread ( less some names ) and I want to be able to finish it the day I drive the new truck off the lot. ( with pics to boot ) :D

I, for one, appreciate the updates. The new TV season started this week but your MDX saga gets this household's Neilsen points. At first, of course, it was frustrating to hear about your experience...but now that Acura has stepped up to get you new wheels, it's actually entertaining...

Worm,
Thanks for your support, and thanks to the other 6049 eyes that have read this mess. I think " what if someone else got this truck " and I wonder what they would do.
Im sure there would be some who would be totally P'd at Acura and hate them for the rest of thier lives.
Some would want to drive the truck into the corporate offices.
Then there are always the passive people who just dont know or would go with the " experts " at Acura to solve all of thier problems.
And there's me .. who tries to stay as calm and possible yet has no problem stating the facts without sugar coating anything. ( although I was a little excited when I called corporate the last time)
Speaking of others, I have not heard back from RODZIR and I even sent him another email the other day .. ROD if your reading, please post an update guy. :)
Thanks again to all,

BBB Update ...
I just talked to my BBB rep and he told me he faxed Acura many times and just left a message to get this settled. He told me he does not understand why Acura will not settle on this already and that he will escalate the case today for a settlement. I told him about my meeting with Acura yesterday and that when I picked the truck up they gave me a copy of the repir order. I told him that if Acura denies the settlement that we WILL settle this in court and I will drag everyone of them up to the stand that gave me a verbal agreement plus I will sue for damages/time/ and anything else they have done.
The reason I want the settlement is because it will list all the details of the transaction on paper - right now I just had a bunch of people giving me verbal promises and im getting a little worried that they are trying to screw me. As you can tell I have NO faith in Acura ( the company ) at all right now.
I started filling out the Attourney General Arbitration form too incase they default on the verbal promise. Its unfortunate that acura has to put its customers through all this crap.
TECK! |

Wow, I thought it was finally officially over Teck. Don't worry, it'll work out before further arbitration--I would imagine they just want to get rid of you by now...

Good Luck again bro.

This is the kind of BS games Acura will play with you if you ever have to deal with them direct.
I called the BBB guy back and he asked me to hold while he called acura corp and I said sure, no problem... He came back a couple minutes later and said he is still waiting ... 5-10 mins go by and he comes back and tells me that the secretary said that they will call me direct instead of the BBB today and I said fine, whatever.
They know im at work and they know my hours and phone number but they still called my home and did not leave a message. ( this is so they can say they tried to call me ) I called and left a message on the acura vms system 5 minutes later. This is rediculous .. stupid little phone games to drag time on .. thats how I feel right now. Acura corporate is the WORST !!! The last time the lady talked to me she gave me a poor little me because honda and acura corporate merged and she was too busy. ( this is NOT what a customer wants to hear when dealing with an issue like this )
If your reading this Acura, please take notes as to not treat customers this way in the future as it makes them very angry and if its true that there is not enough people to handle the work then HIRE SOME MORE .. there's only about 150000 people recently out of work and are looking for jobs right now .. So help the american economy!!
TECK!
Back on 9/7 they told me that they would trade me out and the PAPERWORK would take about 2 weeks .. well its OCTOBER 1st on Monday. I think I waited long enough for paperwork.

Just heard from my BBB rep - said Acura finally agree'd to settle the case - I will wind up paying for the NAV system but I figured I would anyway, mileage up to 3500 ( aoubt $1100.00 , will be a 02 of course, and they have 90 days to deliver ( By Dec 17th ) .. Oh AND it will be delivered to my NEW Acura dealership RICK CASE !!
Finally something in writing !! Sorry for what must have seemed like whining but where I come from, a Verbal promise means nothing .. im from Missouri .. ya got to SHOW ME !!

Teck: I'm glad Acura finally in writing that they would give your long-overdue replacement vehicle. But I'm confused. Where is the ink-on-paper? Did your BBB rep actually get a letter from Acura? Did you?
--Marne |
|
|
| BellTeck |
Marne,
The ink-on-paper will be from the BBB settlement. When I opened up a case with the BBB Acura has to respond in a set number of days. Florida State law says 40 days from the time when I started the case to the finish ( its been longer than 40 days ) or I can push this to Attourney General Arbitration.
Acura's first agreement was that they agree'd to inspect the vehicle. This supposivly stopped the BB clock but to Florida state - nothing stopps the clock except a settlement. After many phonecalls to the BBB and Acura and the Dealer, they Finally settled the case this morning per a call from my BBB rep who is sending out the settlement to both parties today.
TECK!
P.S. I would not wish this on my worst enemy .. its terrible what one has to go through for a product you pay good money for. |

| marne |
Teck: Agreed! No one should have to suffer the extended nightmare you've experienced. I hope now that you'll get your (twin!) car expediently and without any further problems ever!
--Marne |

Thanks Marne,
I just want to be able to enjoy my darn X already. The original X still has a trammie problem from 4th to 5th gear .. I am troubleshooting it per the Acura district guy so they can repair it when it gets sold. Sofar I can not get it to duplicate the problem when driving in 4th gear but it happens in 5th ( thier request I drive it like this ).
The good part about it is I wanted a white truck when I bought the X ( Although I do like the GG ) and now I can add the NAV also ( at a price of course ). So overall it will cost me an extra $3000.00 to get into the new X. $1100 for the miles and $2K for the NAV. ( I dont have to pay the difference in year models and I better not have to pay for the title and transfer etc )

Thanks MSU,
Actions do indeed speak louder:D I think JNanas said that they always make the rape victem feel guilty and each time I would feel any remote feeling of guilt I would get out the sales slip that said $40000.00 and think that this is more than some peoples yearly salery.
For anyone who has to go through anything with Acura or American Honda Motors Corporate I would recommend being direct and do not let up. Keep calling - each day if you have to. Im not saying be angry or scream .. just keep calm yet be direct and give them a timeframe ( days not weeks ) to get back to you with information or a decision ( this is a game they will play with you also ) .. if they dont get back to you then keep on calling .. use and do everything noted in your users manual and state lemon law, write letters to everyone, send emails to everyone, call your attourney general office and request information. ( for example, I cut and paste the letter I sent to the CEO of American Honda and sent it back to Acura marketing through an email they sent to me asking me about the new RSX - Bam - phonecall ) American Honda Corporate does not want to hear your pain and suffering story, they will stop the conversationa and direct it to business so keep focused on a business track. I felt the need to remind them how much this product cost me and that the thought of a refund and going somewhere else is just as good.
Again this all started June 23rd .. its now October 2nd and it was just settled yesterday ( 4 Months Later ) and still 1 to 2 months to go until the replacement arrives. I hope this thread can help anyone in the same situation no matter what the problem is - I am glad I did not have to use a lawyer !!

I got the BBB settlement in the mail yesterday IN WRITING !! And at the same time I also got a survey from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services - ATTN: Lemon Law. The state survey is an in-depth 5 page survey with an additional page for comments and a description of events. The letter that came with the survey asked that I please fill in the survey along with all comments on any question.
After looking the survey over I see that I once again get to let the State know how I feel about Esserman Acura and thier unethical dealership and Acura corporate.
This again may be useless info to some but its part of the process.

MSRP and add side steps and lo jack.
I just found the X5 is having a promotional lease. You can lease an X5 4.4i for 3 years/36k miles with a money factor of .00195 and with 2500 dealer cash, too. It is so tempting. |

Teck,
I'm glad to hear progress is still being made in your case (the BBB deal in writing). So when's the new one comming? |
|
|
| BellTeck |
ATLANTA !!! Welcome back buddy and Happy B-Day !!!
New one?? Hmmm.. your guess is as good as mine .. but the BBB settlement says they have 90 days to deliver the new X - ( on or around December 17th ) but the dealer told me to expect it in November sometime and that I was put before the sales of 02 per the situation. I dont expect to be the first 02 owner but I should be an owner soon after :D
Cant wait to see the White X and try the NAV out !!

update...
I called rick case to check to see when they expect thier 1st shipment of 02's and after 3 different calls I finally got someone who helped me. He told me that they were expecting the 1st 02's Mid November but he said that mine would not be part of the shipment. He told me that my 02 will be part of a special alotment. They guy was super nice and told me that he would handle all the paperwork. I told them I was not sure about when this truck would need an oil change and he asked the service manager about it and responded with ... Just keep the normal maintenance up on the truck.
NOW .. my question is. Would anyone feel guilty about taking this X to Jiffy Lube for an oil change since they are making me pay for it and the dealer is pretty far away?

JIFFY LUBE IT IS!!!!!! Thanks gentlemen for your input. There sure is a difference between my truck and Acura's. I guess an oil change is an oil change.
Here I am worried about going to Jiffy Lube when Esserman Acura Destroyed this truck when I took it in for the first oil change. Heck I may take my next one to Jiffy Lube

BellTeck,
Don't forget to get a new washer for the oil drain plug. I doubt Jiffy Lube will have it. I bought both washers and a filter from my Acura dealer and took them over to a local change place. I suggest that you don't give Acura any reason to ding you more even though you will be turning the vehicle back in, hopefully shortly. |
|
|
| BellTeck |
Good advice and thanks Remery ..
I did not even think about that and knowing my luck everything would be all messed up over a washer. I will have to order some from Tim along with a wood shift knob :D Hopefully the washers are not $5.00 ea .. im sure its good to stock some too. I may even order some filters and do it myself. ;)

Jiffy Lube it was !!!
( For the record, Jiffy Lube stocks the washers for honda/acura automobiles. )
I pulled up to the bay and was directed in like I was pulling a 747 into a gate at the airport. The manager jumped off his seat behind the register and all of the sudden I had 6 Mechanics, the manager and 3 customers crawling all over the X. Questions were asked, doors were opened, heads tilted underneath to see the drivetrain, there was no room for another person around the engine compartment as it was opened up with " Awww's " and " Ooohs " and a " thats it ". I could have sold 5 right then and there.
I had to turn the wheels to the left and pull forward a little more because the oil filter is located by the front right tire and they had to use the " Patton pending " cardboard box so there was no oil leaking on suspension parts at all. I have to admit this oil change was better than my 1st one at the actual acura dealer. ( Not to mention I got an oil change and engine change the first time ).
Overall, I would go back to Jiffy Lube with my X as they treated the truck like it was their own.
I did call the dealer today and talked to my service rep. He asked me if I got my new truck yet and I told him no and that I needed his opinion and advice because I am going on a trip to VA next week in it. I asked him about the oil change on this X and if it was ok to take it to Jiffy Lube and he said " Absolutely .. No problem at all " Pretty impressive Rick Case Acura .. the more I deal with these people, the more respect I have for them.

I'm not sure what your state law says in regard to the "lemon law" but in Washington State, it wasn't as easy as I thought. It had to be a documented safety problem that was unable to be repaired after three (3) tries by the dealership. If you past that hurdle, the regional factory rep had a chance to mediate the deal between you and the dealer and if that could not be done, then the lemon law pathway was finally open.
Hate to hear of your troubles on a MDX.

Thanks Skizzer,
Just glad everything worked out as it did and trust me ... IT WAS NOT EASY !!! Im still awating the call that will tell me to come pick up my New White 02 X. Im sure the lemon law is never an easy proccess in any state to go through or it would be an everyday thing. This truck STILL has problems they can not fix and that is why I am getting the new one. ( Along with the nasty front window Kazoo )
I drove 3500 miles trouble free, then the dealer had it up to 7500 miles, I got it back with the problem and have put up with it now for 3000 miles and were ready to take it on a trip to VA tomorrow. Its a great LOANER car and the X is a great trip taker.
Happy Thanksgiving to Everyone on the X forum's , We have a LOT to be thankful for this year. God Bless !

The bad news is that I know firsthand of one 2002 that has the Kazoo sound problem so they clearly have not definitively identified or rectified it yet. It also has The Thud (and an inspection shows no spring isolators installed from the factory)! This in itself is amazing to me. Hopefully you'll luck out and get one of the majority that are Kazoo and Thud free...

I called my BBB rep this morning and told him that I got his survey in the mail but I can not fill it out yet because I never got my replacement truck. He told me he would check into it and call me back. About 4pm I got a call from the Acura Parts and Service guy and he told me that the truck is " In Transit " and to be safe it should be here in 2 Weeks. +/- a day for dealer prep. He then told me they would have the paperwork all ready to go and call me to finalize it. Will update more as I hear it.

Hey Teck...
Glad to see you made it back home from VA... Thought maybe you got into this area and decided you could not go back home. How did the "X" do in the mountains???? |

Thanks Marne,
Im starting to get excited again and still have not seen a real white one on the road down here. I did see a RedRock on the highway and it looked good too.
Will let you all know when it comes in and pics will not be far behind !!

VA TECH,
Virginia is beautiful and the X did wonderful through the mountains .. 4th gear is perfect for down hill slopes and the X has awesome hill climbing power. We did have to jump lanes real fast as the Buick next to us tagged himself a deer. We stopped to make sure they were ok and they were. Unfortunately the deer was not ok but I heard the guy say stew and jerky so im sure he will put the circle of life in effect. My brother lives right off the blue ridge parkway and we had the most wonderful thanksgiving ever. Was 82 when I left Ft.Lauderdale and it was 28 when we drove into Roanoke. 909 miles each way and the X was not even dirty when we got there. Gas mileage was around 21MPG - not bad for the hills and a cruising speed of 85/90 .... Cant wait for the new one !!!!

Hey Teck,
Glad you had a nice visit to VA. Nice to know the 'X' purrs in the
mountains. I bet it liked the fresh mountain air...
It was good you got to experience the cooler temps. For the
past few days, we have had record highs in the 70's. It feels
very strange to put up the Christmas decorations in shorts and
a tee....
Concerning the Buick and the deer, our local newspaper recently
did a pretty big article about body shops and deer. It was stated
that most damage ranged from $2k to $7k. Whenever I see a
dead deer in the road, I automatically think $2500.
Hey Tech, do you think any of those Miami fans will be interested
in taking some "fresh road kill" back to Florida with them? :D :D
(of course I hope they don't make "fresh road kill" out of my
Hokies....)
I am so excited!! My GG 'X' is due to be delivered to the dealer
within hours. The computer has shown it in the area since
Tuesday, but it has not been delivered to the dealer yet. On Monday,
it was showing in Detroit and on Tuesday it was showing in the local area,
so I am thinking that maybe the computer shows the final destination of the truck,
once it has been loaded. I am about to "wet my pants" from the
thought of my "chameleon 'X' " being so close... This website sure has
made the wait a little better...
Again, glad you had a good trip to VA and come back to my beautiful state soon. |

Teck,
I just finished reading all the posts regarding all your troubles. WOW!!! I think I could have read a Clancy novel faster.
Anyway, I came over to this board as I have been considering an MDX for some time now. I currently have a 2000 Tahoe that I love but my wife hates and since she drives it most of the time, we are selling it. I also have a 2002 TL Type S which is currently waiting for its 3rd transmission (which I won't get until the end fo Dec!!) and has had numerous other minor problems (water leak, warped rotors, and too many squeaks and rattles to list) in only 27000. The problems I've had plus the ones you've had (although many seem to be dealership related) are steering me away from getting another Acura. My dealership here in Roanoke, VA just called me Saturday to inform me that an MDX just became available but I'm not sure I can deal with another problematic car. I've driven nothing but Hondas and Acuras (as my primary car) for the past 12 years and have always loved them. I absolutely love my TL-S but hate that fact that Acura's quality really seems to have gone down hill. I had some older Legends and it's amazing how much better they were.
Anyway, I have a few questions for you. As I said, I'm having one problem after another with my TL-S and have just begun to investigate my options. I don't know if I have case under VA's lemon law because it does not allow a vehicle to be driven primarily for business use, which mine is. I've call Acura's customer relations line to inform them what was going on, the past trouble I've had, and that I was considering contacting an attorney. They're supposed to get back to me today or tomorrow (after reading your experience, I don't expect to hear from them at all).
Do you have any advice for me? Any new buddies at Acura I can call to get things done? Anything at all would be a bid help.
And for VA Tech -- GO HOKIES!!!! What a game Saturday!!! I know we lost but wow was that exciting. I've never been to such an exciting game. I think we earned a lot of respect that day (even though we did drop in the polls). To have 5 turnovers and still only lose by 2 points to Miami, that's impressive. Hopefully we'll crush FSU.
Also, you mentioned you didn't get your MDX from the closest dealership. Was that Duncan? If so, why not? |

VA Tech,
Florida football has been interesting this year .. FSU Fizzled, the Gators choked, Miami is not looking too bad, and the Dolphins have had a VERY lucky season. Im more a RAMS fan, people tell me I look like Kurt Warner all the time.
Congrats on your New X .. Will look for the posts with pics of your new baby. I got a call from Acura tonight about the delivery of my replacement X so im sure I will get a call inthe next couple of days to pick it up. FINALLY !!!!
