Congratulations Teck :D :D

I am a little late in reading that you finally got the MDX - but as others before me have posted- you certainly deserve it. I am glad you got the Navi - I also was debating but LOVE IT and glad I spent the extra $2k for it. I am also glad to see that Acura did come thru!!!

Enjoy the new ride!!!

By the way - Zaino does look terrific on white - my RX is white & has a 2 coats of Z & has a very good mirror shine. It's not as deep as the shine on my black MDX - but the Zaino still looks good!

Have fun with the new MDX!!
BellTeck
Texrb, Thank you.. and your right, I am glad I got the Navi. I use it every day all day long ( well while im driving anyway ) and I have a whole schpeel I go through when I show everyone the Navi .. I could sell the things !! ;)

Teck, I can sense the 'proudness' and the big smile you must
have on your face when you are "showing off" your new 'X'. I am
glad your nightmare had a happy ending... The only problem I
have is you are enjoying your navi so much, it makes me wish I
had purchased navi with my 'X'..... :D :D
BellTeck

Enshrine it forever?? LOL!! Im sure the Admin is sick and tired of editing a thread like this .. Its amazing it got this far without any bad words

If it is set aside, I would want people to know that this was not about my Original X ... it was about dealing with Acura as a Company. We can call it :

"""" THE BATTLE OF ACURA """"

Then again , we could just let this fall deep into the thread never never land

BellTeck:

Can't belive I missed this thread ...

You are the man. I can not imagine getting anywhere close to the level of persistence and patience you have.

When I saw ctluxra's post about 21 pages, I thought he was crazy. Who would go thru 21 pages and then post a reply. It was about 11:00 PM last night, and I went thru all 21 pages of it.

I am glad for you, but feel that you got screwed. There was absolutely no compensation for your pain and suffering. In my opinion, they should give you a new car every year, for life.

Mitsubishi posted my payments late and charged me late fee, I decided never ever to buy their products any more. I still will not buy any of their S%$T. Had I read your post prior to the purchase of my 'X (which now has about 3000 miles), I would have seriously thought about buying something other than this.

The bottomline, you are happy, and I am sure, most of us are happy for you.

Hi Folks:
Last Sept I wrote to you all that my oil leak had been fixed. No chance. The oil leak is back. A few drops on my garage floor every few days. My car has only 5000 miles. I bought in March 2001. Last Sept, Acura changed the oil pan gasket, but looks like it did not fix the problem. I am taking the MDX back on 4/10/02 for the dealer to have another look.
Any suggestions?

That sucks big time! Maybe they are aware of this problem creeping up now and then on that engine, but overlooked something simpler like a valve cover gasket. Just a thought.

I keep checking my car every week or so to make sure my oil leak doesnt come back. They had to replace the main rear seal on my engine, but its been 3 months now so far without any leak. They said this was a first, and that it was probably a defective seal.

Hi DaleB and ifeldman:
Thanks for your quick response. I will keep you posted about how the dealer handles my problem. I have never had an oil leak in any car I owned in the last 30 years. This is a first.

Bellteck,

Which Esserman dealer did you use? I was actually iimpressed, the ABS light was on. (Avoid Braking Short?) I called into service, when I pulled up my paper was already done and a rental was waiting for me. When I picked up my car, it was cleaned inside and out (almost to a prof. detailed level). Notice I said CLEANED. I brought it in pretty dirty inside and out.

I live in So.Fla and use the Ex-Miami Acura dealer for service. So far so good... Only negative was that I was given a Honda Civic, but hey it was free and if I wanted I could've gotten a Chevy Trailblazer for $8/day extra. Since I brought the car in on a tuesday and I do not drive the 'X during the week (Company Car) I took the civic, which sat in my driveway...

One point to ponder, why is it that almost every part for this truck has to be special ordered and shipped overnight? I am so used to "American cars" where the dealer has pretty much anything and everything in stock. My ABS module went bad and had to be special ordered. (So I had the rental three days) I've noticed a lot of people here always mentioning that there part was not in stock.

Hi BellTeck:
I keep having a drop of oil leak every few days. The dealer here in Poughkeepsie changed the oil pan gasket last Fall, but a couple of weeks ago I noticed that the problem was not fixed.
Did your oil leak problem also beging with a drop or so leaking every few days, or did you loose a lot of oil?
Thanks for keep us informed on the goings on with your MDX dealer and congratulations on your new MDX. Looks nice.

Hello all,

Sorry its been so long since ive responded to posts but I have been traveling for what seems to be months now. ( work not play )

pjsingh - I told you before when you said they replaced the gasket that it would not hold, they told me they would have to use so much gasket goop on it that it would eventually get through again. My cure to it was to get a new truck and they knew I was not going to settle for anything less. Good luck and I hope they can get you what you deserve. ( try the lemon law - it helps )

ctxultra - Thanks for reading the whoe thing, I know its long :)

GCK - Thanks to you too, I did not get any compensation, but I was able to drive a " loaner " X over 10000 miles without costing me a penny, one year later to the day I bought my X I have a brand spanking new X - WHITE - With the NAV - and a year cut off my payments. I just refinanced again and I will have my X paid for in a little more than a year. So all in all , im a happy boy!!!

DaleB - I agree !

ifeldman - I would do the same thing !!!

dakster - It was Esserman International .. by the Mall. Never again, I have to tell you that I saw a different side of that dealership and will NEVER go there again. If my X broke down in the Mall parking lot, I would have it towed to Rick Case. Thats how serious I am.

Whew .. I have a LOT of reading to catch up on .. once again , thanks to all !!

Now that was a saga! Once I started reading, I could not put the thread down.

I just purchased my MDX from Miami Acura (Esserman). While I had no qualms with the sales dept, the service dept. gives me a bad vibe (even before reading this-- they had mis-treated me and my Legend) I will be making the trip up to Broward for any service in the future. Thanks for sharing this ordeal.
BellTeck
I have not ORG'd for a while ( sorry been very busy ) but when I came back and started reading some posts I was surprised at some of the bashing and X hate posts.

Its true that the X is not perfect ... but its perfect for me.

And remember, its our imperfections that make us unique!!

After this ordeal and coming up on 18K miles I can still say that I just LOVE my X.

I keep on driving and feeling sorry for people that dont have one. It must suck not to have an X !! :2:

Hi BellTeck: Wecome back to this forum. As you may recall, I did have oil leak when the car was a couple of months old back in 2001 Spring. The leak was fixed by Acura. Since then I have put on 15000 miles with no problem whatsoever. Yes, MDX is a super vehicle. No complaints.

Welcome back, good to see you again. Glad that things are now going well with your MDX. You sure went through enough heck dealing with Acura and the dealership.
