I recently moved from Michigan (no front license plate) to western New York state near Buffalo (which requires front license plates) and need to find a front license plate assembly to install on my car.
I checked with my local dealer in Michigan before leaving, hoping they would just take one out of a vehicle on the lot but no luck. They could have ordered it but I was leaving in a couple of days and they needed a week.
So, I am hoping someone in a non-front plate state will have a front plate assembly they don't need.
If it makes a difference I have a 2002 MDX.
Thanks, Joe |

LOL.
I am having a real hard time accepting that fact that I have to ugh up my autos with a front plate. Maybe Michigan wasn't so bad after all?
Thanks I will start an agent.
In the mean time if anyone has one let me know. |

I have an '05 and can arrange to send it to you, assuming the '05 assembly will work for you. PM me, and we'll talk turkey. |

Hey Joe,
California is a front plate state as well. However, I excercise my right to not follow the motor vehicle code on this issue. I don't have a front plate on my daily driver, and if I'm cited, I'll just pay the fine and carry on. I've posted my position on a prior thread and was flamed by tree-hugging liberals who screamed that I was a 'law breaker' - give me a friggin' break. Not sure about NY law, but I would bet that you can get away with not having a front plate for most of the time, and if you do get cited, I'm thinking it is a nominal fee and you could just pay it and go about your routine - but you may want to check to be sure . . . YMMV |

Socal,
Don't you have a yearly vehicle inspection? Don't they give you grief for the plate being missing?
I'm lucky that PA doesn't have the two plate law... I just don't like the look of front plates. |

| So far, California does not require any type of vehicle inspection. They do require a bi-annual (every 2 years) smog inspection. New cars get a 4 year bye, so smog starts on the 5th anniversary of the registeration becoming due. I don't recall owning a car that hasn't passed the smog inspection . . . (then again, I don't chop off the catalytic converter or do any major exhaust mods either). |

As a former New Yorker with all of my extended family still there, you do not want to have a vehicle parked/driven on any street or road in NY without a front and rear plate! My relatives are always amazed when they visit me on the west coast when they see cars without both plates. While it may be the "law" in California, it is very rarely enforced. In New York, however, the same "law" is very stringently enforced! |

Hmmm...I always thought it was conservatives who were the uptight law and order types....
And before you call me a tree-hugging liberal, I prefer to classify myself as a knee-jerk moderate. |

In NY, the front license plate serves a double purpose.
It is also referred to as a front 'tap guard' as when you parallel park in NY, you get as close as you can until you feel a tap on the car behind you :D.
Forget civil disobedience, this is more about front bumper protectionism :D :D |

ceenit- funny!
I ended up buying a license plate assembly from the dealer. They were only $12. I thought they would be much more. At that price it did not make sense to purchase from someone here.
Thanks, everyone! |
