The second day out w/the MDX I noticed "someone" had already put a scratch on my bumper and I wasn’t even parked by any one!! I wouldn’t so much call it a scratch…cant even feel it when I rub my finger along it - it’s like you rubbed an eraser along the bumper…but I cant wash or rub it out…and suggestions?
TIA

What color is it?
If it's paint transfer, you can try to claybar it.
If it's a smudge/scratch, you could try something slightly abrasive like 3M scratch and swirl remover (39009 for dark cars). |

| It's probably from a bag or something you were putting in the trunk.. I had a similar story on my silver 2000 Audi A4.. I was taking a bag out of the trunk and it was quiet heavy so I had to have it slide down the bumper - you can guess the result.. I just took some GS27 :) :) :) and it went away! |

I had a feeling it was due to a baby seat that my friend had transferred from her car to mine but I
didn't have the heart (I cried silently:() to say anything.
It is basically the same color(light mahogany)..a smudge was a good way to describe it.
I do plan on ordering some of the zaino products
(I know today is the last day for the special)so,
I'll give that clay bar a try.
Thanks,:p

| genemish.... what was that GS27 you referred to? |
|

GS27 is that product they sell on TV for removing minor scratches and dirt.. www.gs27.com It actually works pretty good, but you really need to spend 10-15 rubbing it in.. For your "scratch", it'll take 10 seconds and it will be gone..

wow - so it really works? Funny, my son & I have seen that commercial several times and he asked me if I wanted that for the car. I replied that you can't believe everything you hear/see on TV! But I sure could use the beeping keychain!!
RE:Zaino...I thought it was until Aug 1st...but you are right...it's until the 6th.
Thanks Again,

| Yup, it sure does work.. but it's better for cleaning rather than removing scratches.. |

Just keep in mind that the claybar is only good for removing foreign substances from the paint (like paint transfer, overspray, sap, etc) so it might not work if this "smudge" is actually a scratch. It's worth a try, tho, if you plan on getting the clay anyway and is non-abrasive.
FWIW I have similar "smudges" on the rear bumper of my Lexus, from the wheels of an overpacked and too-heavy-to-lift suitcase (Mrs. Worm -- are you reading this? :)). Needed the 3M to buff them out. |

I know in time the smudges will become too numerous to count(or buff out)...but for now
I'd like to make them "go way."
From the mouths of babe's: Look! We have ten cup holders, how cool!!! But Mom wont allow
any drinks in the MDX:("

FYI, I had the 3M Scotchcal applied to the top ad back of our bumper, as my wife and kids have a habit of dragging things across the bumpers as them in the trunk. It had to be custom cut, but what a stress reliever! This is the clear 8mm thick plastic which is put on like window tint film.
This was done at the same time as the front of the vehicle. It probably cost about $100, but well worth it to me.

Ah yes, first comes bottled water (of course w/a screw on cap) then the teddy grahams..next
come the half eaten pop tarts that didn't get finished at the breakfast table...take out from McDonalds..a fry here, a fry there...it’s all down hill from there. Trust me, I know from experience.;)
...hum a clear coat over the bumper...now that's a thought..one of the reasons I bought the mdx was
because I do a lot of gardening...thanks, I'll look into it :)

I had some of those "eraser looking smudges/scratches" on my MDX front bumber. It appeared as though a shopping cart or another vehicle hit the corner of the vehicle. The smudge was black and about five inches long. I tried removing the scratches with scratch remover, cleaner/wax, bug and tar remover, and even a little polishing compound - none of these products worked.
I took the MDX to my dealer and he took it off INSTANTLY by spraying on some aerosol alcohol-based brake parts cleaner, and wiping off with a cotton towel. He says they use this product often. I could not believe how easy the mark was removed, and the spray did not harm the MDX finish. |
