Hi everyone - I'm new to this site and I was wondering if anyone has had a problem with the brake light switch not working. I have a 2002 MDX, with 74,000 miles on it and a few days ago I could not get the car out of "park", after my friend realized that my brake lights were not coming on, I called my acura dealership and they told me it was the brake light switch and that I had to use the shift override to get the car to move.
Long story short - this worked, and I got my car to the closest mechanic shop, since I didn't feel too good about not having any brake lights, and they fixed the problem. It was in fact, a bad brake light switch.
Today, I realized that now my cruise control doesn't work. Does anyone know if this has something to do with replacing the brake swithc? I thought I read somewhere on this site, that the 2 things may be linked. I called the mechanic shop to let them know and they said that there is no connection between the two, and that they are two separate problems.
Thanks for your help! |

TRY CHECKING ALL YOUR FUSES
ALSO CHECK AROUND WHERE THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH IS LOCATED
MAYBE WHOEVER REPLACED IT UNPLUGED SOMETHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH CC |

I just checked out the fuses and they are OK.
Does anyone else have any other ideas about this one? I've been looking on the internet, but haven't found too much about this. |

| Just wanted to let you all know that if you ever have to have your brake light switch replaced - let the dealer or mechanic shop know that after the installation the switch needs to be reset in order for cruise control to work - I'm not sure exactly how to reset it, but I took my car to Pohanka Acura in Chantilly and they took care of the problem right away! They were great; cruise control works again. |
