Hey everyone... new here... so hello :)

I plan on buying my first MDX in the next day or two and have already been to the dealer twice.

Anyways... I got the price down to $36,880 giving $4,000 down and financing the rest through Acura at 5.9%. I got the price I was shooting for... but not the APR. I wanted 4.9% for 60 months as advertised but they told me my current credit rating of 678 isn't high enough to qualify. I was told I'd need at least 710 to qualify for that special.

5.9% isn't bad... but I'd really like the 4.9% if possible. That's over $1,000 in savings over 5 years time. What do you guys/gals think? If I keep them waiting do you think they'll evetually offer 4.9%?

I called some other Acura dealers seeing if they could match the one I went to's price and some said they could... but they all said they couldn't do anything about the APR because that's something through Honda Credit and they have no control over that. Is that BS or true?

True....not BS.

If your score 678, most likely, preferred is the best that can be done. If your credit is perfect and only a low score, only HOnda Finance can make the exception and give you the 4.9%, but they have gotten somwewhat strick on this. 678 to 710 would be a serious exception and i have not seen them do one for that large of a space in score to the super preferred tier.

One thing I can tell y ou.......the dealer is NOT making anything extra from anyone by giving you the 5.9% instead of the 4,9%. We are not allowed to mark up special rates provided by HOnda. We get paid a $100 flat fee for getting the loan to Honda.

Go for it.......get your deal and start enjoying your X. :D

5.9%/60 months sounds pretty good for a 678 score.

Got it today :)

Ended up agreeing on 36,980 at 5.9%.

Then when I was signing the paperwork in the finance office they tried to sell me on warranties (passed) and the GAP and E-1 alarm. I ended up getting GAP and the E-1 and it change my monthly payment by about $1... not too shabby? They got that by eventually giving me 4.9% and lowering the prices on the alarm and GAP.

I'm a VERY happy new MDX owner and can't wait to SEARCH FIRST and then ask questions if I can't find them on here. :)

Nice deal. I am in the beginning stages of securing the same MDX. However my dealer is looking for $38842.00. I started emailing other Dealers. The color I want is in stock at 3 Dealers.

guitarlp,

If you don't mind my asking, where is the dealer you purchased from?

In my area (MI/IL) to get an '06 touring/nav (no res) for less than $37K would be astounding.

I've got the cash and desire to buy a new or slightly used MDX however, cannot find the deal.

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I got mine from Cerritos Auto Square Acura here in LA County California. They say they're the 3rd largest Acura dealer in the US... so if that's true they should be able to offer slightly better pricing.
