| Yes, Pilot. I hope you will assist your cousin. I was thinking of a T bar hitch in the back. What type of cross bars do you recommend? |

Thanks.
If you have time, can you list the parts and brand that you used? I assume that the cross bars are bought elsewhere? |

Sorry for the delay, a busy weekend.
I used the Thule Goal Post on the trailer hitch. On it are the Yakima Rollers.
On the factory rails are Yakima Mako Saddles wich require Yakima Universal Mighty Mounts to adapt the saddles to the MDX rails. You could probably just use one set of Saddles but being that we were driving a long way I wanted to be as safe as possible.
Needless to say a lot of this stuff is because the factory rails are near worthless for carrying a canoe/kayak.
I had intended to put on Yakima rails when I bought the MDX but the dealer accidently put on the rear spoiler. That spoiled that plan so I used the trailer hitch rig.
The bottom line is that it works fine just takes a little longer to get going. I think there were some ties to help stabilize the Goal Post but it seems fine without them so I never used them.
Definitely more spent on the Yakima/Thule stuff than on the kayak and gear. |

| Thanks. I talked to a Yakima dealer and he was confident that I did not need a T Bar hitch in back. Too bad that the dealer put the spoiler on. He feels that 2 lowriders and tie downs in the front and back and the gunrails (sp?) should do it. I will also get a boat launch which is an arm that comes out of the low rider or cross member. It makes loading the boat easier. |
