Hi Folks
06 MDX Nav + Res
I was attempting to add an AUX jack to the head unit (by tapping into the wires going from the head audio unit to the third row seat AUX jacks).
And I lost a screw for the audio unit into the abyss.
It was lodged into a groove, till I magnetized a screw driver and tried to pull it out and it got unstuck about halfway out and dropped even farther into the dark depths of nothingness.
Is there any thing I can go at this point to get it out (I cant even see it at this point).

| Go to your local Acura parts dept. They have exploded views of everything. The part will be expensive but compared to the headache you will get trying to retrieve the old screw it will be worth it. |

If you're talking about one of the screws that mounts the unit to the car, hell, I've dropped about three in there, never to be found.
I just took one to Home Depot and got something the same length with the same threads, spent less than a buck and you wouldn't know the difference. |

| I'm with jhue. As long as it doesn't start rattling (My biggest fear), you're fine. |

You hit it on the nail ! I dont care about the screw (should have clarified earlier). Its the possible future rattle that keeps me awake at nights. |

I was successful at getting at a dropped screw with a magnet on a telescoping extension. Fished around under there for about 10 minutes in places I couldn't even see and out it came. I was very happy. Shouldn't have been because later, after everything was back together I dropped the last screw to be installed into the abyss. I said screw it and just found another screw in my extensive collection that worked fine.
Sooooo, join the club. We meet on tuesdays.
On a positive note, if it ever starts rattling it will be easy to find. |
