I see from a number of threads that people have had problems with their transmissions.
I just found out today that I have to have a new transmission. I'm waiting for them to call back to tell me how much it costs.
I have a 2002 MDX. I'm so disappointed in Acura. |

| How many miles are on it? Acura seems to have covered many transmissions as long as it is under 100K and service records indicate proper maintenance. |

You tell them that you expect it to cost nothing. |

Thank you! It does have under 100,000 miles on it.
I have a call in to the service department. |

| Also, you will get a "rebuilt" factory transmission as opposed to a "new" transmission whether it covered or not......:1: |

| I was wondering about that. I figured it would be a rebuilt one. Hopefully, it won't give me any problems. :) |

The service man called and said they will replace it at no cost to us! yay!
That is a relief! |

Remember, that once you exceed 100,000 miles with that "rebuilt transmission" and it fails at 101,000 miles YOUR ON YOUR OWN. Perhaps an extended warranty is appropriate if you plan on keeping the vehicle....
Just an fyi..... |

I assume you are out of warranty on both time and mileage (4yrs/50K)? |

| Yes, my MDX has about 80,000 miles on it. |

Technically, they could have been own their own already. It's strictly a goodwill move to warranty it at 80k. As it would be at 90k or 127k. 100k does seem to be the magic number for many, but I have seen goodwills done for some even over 100k.
Regardless, once the transmission is replaced, you get a warranty on it. 12 months or...hmm, I'd like to say 12k miles, but I'm not quite sure right now for some reason. |

I will see what I can do when I pick it up!
Thanks for the info.!
Definitely something to discuss with the dealer. |

I picked up my MDX this evening. I had to go to the cashier to take care of the paperwork this afternoon then I had to go back this evening to pick up my MDX.
I think it is driving worse then when I dropped it off!
I will have to take it back on Monday. It seems to have problems after being at a stop light. It can't shift into gears and gives a big thump.
Sounds like transmission problems! hummm.
Nice that they fixed it at no cost to me. |

Apparently there was a part that was bad and they are going to replace it. So I had to leave my MDX at the dealer again.
I did get a loaner car this time though!
The transmission has a 3 year warranty. |
