| This has been a problem with the earlier MDXs. The cable stop in the handle is what breaks. There is a new updated cable and handle assembly that has a stronger cable stop built in. Unfortunately, this means you'll have to partially take the seat apart to pull the cable out instad of just being able to replace the handle only. |

| Take the seat apart? That sounds like a challenge with several hours of work for me, including the trip to the dealer to purchase the parts. Are the replacement parts any better than the current ones? |

I was only able to find 2 other people who have the same problem posted in these 2 threads:

Anyone else experience this? My relative borrowed my MDX and somehow snapped the cable that folds the seat down, so they can fit the snowboards inside the car. I don't have a snowboard rack.
I have replaced the passenger side second row seat cable assembly. Not that bad of a job. You will need to pull the back of the seat off (pressure clips). Unscrew some of the hardware handles. Next remove some of the hog rings that hold the leather seat cover on. Unbolt the star bolt (a box wrench fit) at the "L" of the seat. Replace cable and reassemble. About a 1hr job. |
