Does anyone have any info on how to go about fabricating a double DIN dash kit? I know that many people are interested in one, and I have the time but don't know what materials to start with. Everyone seems to say that modifying the metra/scosche kits doesn't work very well. The custom double DIN dash kit posted on this forum a while back (I attached the pic from the previous post) looked very professional. Does anyone know what materials that kit used? I'd be willing to put the time in and make molds, etc. and sell the kits here but I don't know the best way to get a surface finish, etc. that looks factory.

The unit that I am trying to install is a double DIN touch screen VGA monitor with a 45x4 amp and FM tuner built in and a USB DVD drive behind the screen. This seems like an ideal setup because I will be able to control my car PC without blocking my factory NAV screen, but it requires a double DIN opening.

Check it out here: http://www.digitalww.com/DWW-6500.htm

Some Background on my setup:

I am wrapping a full speaker upgrade in my '02 MDX-NAV. I used Infinity 6012i's and an Infinity 1052W DVC Sub in the factory location with an Alpine MRP-M450 Class D Amp. Eventually I will be adding a car PC with an external 750 GB Hard drive chock full of movies and mp3's and a media center based operating system running through the touch screen.

I'll post pics once I have everything complete.

Thanks in advance for all advice.

I would try this site:

http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/

They have a BUNCH of fabrication ideas and in general are very well informed. I have learned alot from the guys on that forum.
