I bought a used 2004 MDX from the dealer . Two months later when I take it for an oil change, the dealer's service station tells me that all my tires are gone and the brake pads need replacement.
The dealer wants to charge me $900 for new Michellin tires and $380 for new brake pads.
I 'feel its too high esp for the brakepads..can anyone tell me how much does it usually cost for new tires & brake pads |

| When I replaced my tires with OEM CrossTerrains, I paid $157.00 each. That is less than $700.00. |

Go to your local Goodyear dealer and check out the Fortera Silent Armor.
You will get a much better ride and way better handling in all conditions as well. The tires look better on the MDX as well.
I have had the Michelin Cross Terrrains on 2 different SUV's now and am not impressed. |

Echo2625-
I notice you are in Ohio. Just curious. Do you work for Goodyear?

i work at a dealer in canada, and you can do brakes for under 200$,
cross terrains go for 220 each,
i would recommend staying with the crossterrains, IMO they are the best tire for the vehicle.
and you would think that when they took the truck in on trade and did the used vehicle inspection that they would have seen those problems, (in fact they probably did but decided not to fix them)
i would go back to your dealer and complain. |

No, I do not work for Goodyear but have had many family members work there over the years.
Goodyear makes excellent tires but so does many other companies. Actually some of the best tires made are by Cooper Tire also from Ohio.
I have had issues with Michelin and Michelin dealers and that is why I am so against them. |

How many mises on the vehicle? A 2004 should not need tires or pads unless much more miles than normal.

I run Cooper Lifeliners on my van. Great tire IMO :) |

I hve complined to the dealer . There's no way they could have missed out these problems just 2 months back when they sold me the vehicle...actually the tires looks quite good from the outside but on minute inspection with a flashlight u can see the cracks forming in the valley areas between the threads..
Dealers not listening..i've even registered a compalint to Acura but they say they cant do much since dealers operate independently...
Is there any other recourse i could take to - to escalate my compalints...
The car has done only 42,300miles |

| That depends. Was it sold as an Acura Certified used vehicle? If not, there's little that they can do, assuming that the tires passed a legal state inspection on delivery. |

I bought my pads at a parts chain for a total of $100 front and back. Took them to a Goodyear shop and they charged $80 an hour for the labor (2 hrs) so $260 is what it totaled. Goodyear pads would have been about $40 more so that's where it goes, in the mark up. Too many hands in the pot. You think the average shop stocks all pads? No, your paying for a parts runner to bring them over. |
