Hey everyone,
So I have a brand new 2006 MDX with about 500 miles on it now. I was driving the other night and I had the radio turned off completely and I noticed a noise.
The noise only happens when accelerating from either a stop or anything below 20 or so MPH. I'll accelerate (a little more quickly then normal... but no where near floored) and about 1-2 seconds later I hear a thud that sounds like it's comming from the rear of the MDX. Almost like something (a water bottle) rolled and then hit something... but there's absolutely nothing in my MDX.
I ran a search and I can't find any similar problems like this. I did find a number of threads about the gas tank thud noise... but everything I read says that's only if you stop quickly. I don't here that if I stop... I only hear my noise when accelerating.
Maybe my noise is normal though? I don't know... just thought I'd check before I potentially waste my, and my dealers, time. |

Everything I read about "brake clunk" says it happens when braking or when going in reverse first thing during a cold morning.
Mine has nothing to do with going in reverse or braking... only accelerating. |

Maybe it's the fuel in the tank? Sometimes referred to as gas tank slosh here.
My 2004 used to do it, but it was very rare, very slight, and only when the fuel was a certain level........near full.
I'd monitor it for a day or 2, and se if it goes away as the gas gets used. |

You are correct. What you are describing is NOT the the MDX "brake clunk" feature. Keep us posted on your findings. Good luck.:29: |
