We picked up our new MDX Thursday afternoon and headed out Friday for a family vacation with my wife's family in Colorado springs. After we got out here I was showing everyone all the cool stuff the MDX could do. (we got NAV and RES). When I went to put a DVD into the DVD drive nothing happened. Normally I would think the rollers grab the disc and pull it in. I pushed it a little more, nothing. Before I put the DVD in I noticed the green light on the left was lit so I hit eject in case there was something already in there. Nope. All the front or rear screen says is "load." Of course the instructions for the DVD system are on a DVD, so I had to find one to see if this was a FAQ or not. I didn't see anything so I took it to the local Acura dealer. They said it was broke but it would take a week to get the part. We drive back tomorrow. :( Now I have to wait until we get back and find some time to go to our local dealer that's 40 miles away. I know stuff happens, but I'm just disappointed that it never worked. I would think someone would have caught that.

Sorry to hear that. Makes you wonder if they do any testing at all.

Reminds me of my last Dell computer. The thing shipped with a DVD drive that did not work at all. Turns out it shipped with a firmware version that was not operative. So there is no way they could have tested it...since it was not possibly operative out of the box!

pendragn,
I assume you purchased at Jordan? When I picked up our 03, they went thru just about everything with us including the RES system. Did they not go over the system at all?

Yup, I got it at Jordan. They didn't have one just like what we wanted, so they had to get it via dealer trade. In the maintenance log I can see where the original dealer ran through the check list in January. The only RES related line item is "set up RES" which may or may not have included a media test.

The service guy called today, the DVD player is indeed busted. He said he ordered one overnight so hopefully it'll get fixed tomorrow. My wife's going to pick it up, but I think I'm going to call down and ask if the vehicle was gone over before we bought it. I would think this would have stuck out.
